Something has to be happening behind the scenes with 2,000 plus tips & leads... the LE are holding their cards close to the vest & I can understand the reason why. However, why will they neither confirm or deny if she was sexually assaulted? That part really puzzles me. If she wasn't, I'd be looking at kids in the neighborhood, school, etc...

Maybe you can understand the reason why, but I cannot. IMO the neighborhood really needs to know if she was sexually assaulted. If not, there are so many possibilities of which neighbors need to be aware. If LE is not looking for a RSO, what profile ARE they considering?

No real panic in area it seems.
WLK is my #1 suspect.
A stranger would of just left her tiny body in the area and ran.

Especially since no suspect has been found as of yet, I find myself asking these questions over and over:

What kind of perp. would run?

I am not sure of anything in particular. I drive to and from work everyday and I see them out and about. In fact I saw what appeared like a homeless person on Blanding northbound with a hoodie, covered head, and a backpack and a plastic bag. That is where my thought came from. They are in plain sight at times and may even be dismissed. They seem to have their own community and they have their ways of getting around I am sure. It was cool during that week. Soot could have come from the house but also could have come from a burning pit or can or karosene torches? I am probably way off the mark, again it was just a thought I wanted to put out there.

IMO, that is a very valid point of view. And no, you may not be off the mark.

I really don't understand why there is a major need for many people to believe that homeless people are benign.

I also find it interesting that many people want to protect illegal immigrants from being suspected or "harassed" in their terminology.

The homeless here tend to stay out of the residential areas and are near businesses (more people to solicit funds from).

But they sleep in the city parks, so I wondered whether the park across from 1080 has homeless there. How close is the nearest business area?

You are right that they tend to be invisible. Not many would think twice upon seeing someone they thought was homeless near a garbage dumpster but would they stick out or not in the residential neighborhood? (They would here, but here doesn't matter.)

I ask myself the same questions. And the other question that always pops up is:

who would be most likely to hide in plain sight. or
who could most easily hide in plain sight.

That question always takes me away from RSOs because they will always be the first to be questioned.

I've been talking with a psychic over little Haleighs case for the last few months, and when the news came out in the neighborhood that Somer was missing, my wife and son immediately got out with our flashlights and started searching for her. Looking back at it, we never crossed Debarry towards Grove Park Elementary because we were told that last time she was seen she was heading down Gano past Debarry. Information that is likely incorrect. Kind of haunts me as we may have checked out the abandoned house and park areas that night at some point.

Anyway when we gave up searching the first night, I contacted the psychic and asked for his help. The day they found Somer he had posted his results indicating the guy had seen her before and may have stalked her along with a sketch of the possible suspect, car, history ect. The sketch looks a lot like a SO recently arrested in Albany GA. We sent a picture of this suspect and the psychic says if his info is correct then that's our man.

I realize this is a sluething forum, not a psychic forum, so I won't link the case or anything. I just am trying to follow up on more of the information from the psychic and maybe some of the people in the neighborhood posting here can help.

I read someone saw a clip with a white van pulled over and the reporter explaining that police were pulling over and talking to people, does anyone know where I can find that clip? SO in Albany was arrested trying to lure 2 boys into a white van.

Does anyone in the neighborhood recognize the Albany SO as someone that may have been in our neighborhood before? I can't place him personally but I rarely get past OPJH on Gano. He may have been a landscaper or helped mow grass in the neighborhood.

Do we know of anyone that has a security camera system in the elementary school area either at a personal home or the school itself? Psychic believed that a camera system caught him, and despite the fact I informed him there are no camera systems on businesses since it's residential area he is insistent. This also makes me think maybe a police car camera may have the suspect on film already. The psychic mentioned specifically a time of 3:27.

Yes. When my son was little I wrote on all of his school supplies and such. In fact he is in highschool now and I still do that.

I also want to mention that after reading the article and comments I referenced above it appears Somer's neighborhood was Saturated with people that night. Many folks said they'd been questioned as early as 6pm. For some reason I thought maybe the inital search was more low key and by the next day it gained momentum. But no, the neighborhood was saturated. this makes it even harder for me to believe that all this happened in this neighborhood (or the house on Gano) with a considerably small window of time. Maybe the perp took her out of the immediate neighborhood???

We came out after the 10pm news and by then dozens were already searching woods, the street, and out calling her name. At the time we wanted to believe she was afraid of being in trouble and hiding so we walked around with flashlights calling her name until late in the night :/

I really wish the info we had at the beginning was better as I feel most of us didn't search far past Debarry towards the school because reports indicated she had past it moving towards OPJH :/

I've lost a lot of sleep thinking maybe if we had gone past Debarry further towards the school, the vacant house and the OPAA area that we may have found her that night, and possibly still alive. Just so hard to tell since the police won't give out much information.

They weren't focused there early?

I'd have thought they'd be all over the neighborhood - especially the route from school to home. And the park.

This case was brought to my attention once again, by an article I found and posted on this thread about DNA sampling. Then another poster mentioned it again, after the discovery that there were train tracks nearby. How easy was it for this murderer to go on for years without being caught?

Then I think of Altemio Sanchez, the Bike Path Rapist/Murderer, who eluded capture for years under the guise of being a responsible citizen and family man. All the while, another man was arrested for some of his crimes and later exonerated.

First of all WELCOME! Thanks for coming here to share. Locals can add so much information to the case.

My question is are you saying that the area of the house on Gano ave. AND the park were never searched that night? Or are you just saying you didn't search there that night?

I ask because it seemed like those areas were searched that night and that would significantly shorten the time someone would have to commit this horrible act. If those areas were not searched, then maybe the perp had more time than I thought.
