Whether LE confirms it or not; sure looks like they have a POI at this time. Police also seized a truck and trailer from the Vinson property. Sound like promising news to me at this point anyway. WhooHoo!

IIRC, police did this weeks ago. :waitasec:

Dee, This is quite something, are these the individuals that know something and have not come forward ie James and his business partner? I had thought they already had the truck and trailer checked out same goes for George. hmmmm

  • #63
Does anyone else recall the brother saying work vehicles had been searched back when he was first interviewed by the media?

Maybe these are additional vehicles??

Or are they are back tracking??

Maybe some results are back from the lab....

I also recall reading reports on previous threads where the brother had stated they vehicles had been searched. Either they hadn't searched them all (ie were unaware of this truck and this trailer) or some sort of evidence came back to make them take a second look OR something they saw during the first search but seemed irrelevant suddenly seems to have relevance.

OMG, this is such bad reporting! The writer is writing about something that happened a month ago.

Gah!

?!??!?

[snipped...] registered sexual offender who worked on renovating a fire-damaged house at 1080 Gano Avenue in Orange Park, Florida--where witnesses last saw murder victim, Somer Thompson on 10/19--was questioned by Clay County police on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009

FWIW, CD Hickey, the reporting officer did search the house for Somer.

I conducted a search of the residence however I was unable to locate Somer Thompson. (p. 6 MPR)

I don't think Somer could have come home after the 4 p.m. text to Sean P. because ST was there (even if AT was out searching). And by 5ish LE was there (more than just A. Coan and CD Hickey).

Nor do I think he could have been found by CPerryC on the way to the house because I don't think he'd have had time to kill her and put her in the trash. Even to return later would have been hard since he had ST (minor) with him.

Still hoping LE will release a bit of information on the time frame of actions of the key characters that day. I don't even care if they redact names of the people they talked to that verified who was where when and why they were there.

My point was that I quoted from an October 24th article on firstcoastnews.com which said the vehicles were seized and Vinson was questioned.

I am completely convinced that this is a case of really bad reporting. The author has a link to firstcoastnews as her source of the story (with an incorrect URL, btw). However, I don't see any story about Somer Thompson written today on the firstcoastnews website.

If anyone can prove me wrong, have at it (please!).

Yes, tarabull, she's quoting firstcoastnews as her source and the only article I am able to find on firstcoastnews about Vinson being questioned on a Friday is October 24th...

I thought they had already interviewed George (Chris) Vinson. Thanks for the heads-up Dee!

The Jacksonville news group reported online that according to Alissa Barrs--the sister of George and James Vinson--police spent several hours questioning James and his business partner on Thursday, then returned on 11/13 to interrogate George Vinson, whose name is listed on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement offender web site.

(added source again in case this went on to the next page)

And this is why I thought they had (from 10/23 w/updates 10/24):

James Vinson and his business partner were interrogated for hours by detectives on Thursday, she said, and George Vinson was being questioned Friday.

I would like to email this reporter and ask her if she could straighten this out. If she is basing this report on old news than she should not give up her day job. JMO

This is confusing as the October article said they were both seized then too. I can't see the Examiner making that big of mistake though. Wouldn't someone have pulled the story by now? I am going go with wishful thinking & conclude for the time being something came back from the lab as a match or maybe inconclusive that they want to retest.

The paper was dated today 6:25(?) am.

"was questioned by Clay County police on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009."
"on Thursday, then returned on 11/13 to interrogate George Vinson

I will sure be checking to see IF & when another paper confirms this. :banghead:

Examiner story 11/16

from the link above:
On 11/16, Firstcoastnews.com reported that George Christopher Vinson, 33 (photo, above)--a resident of Mandarin, near Orange Park and also in the Jacksonville area--previously worked on the Gano Avenue house for his brother, James. James owns Vinson Design and Build, a construction company hired to repair the Gano Ave. dwelling that had been vacant for several months after a fire.
WHERE is the article on firstcoastnews.com (corrected url) on 11/16 where all of this is supposedly written?

I don't see it.

I do see it on October 23rd here. Almost word for word, without the November dates.

So... I'll state a fact here right now: there is NO article on firstcoastnews.com from TODAY which states any of this that I can find.

Does that mean that Vinson wasn't hauled downtown on Friday the 13th? No.

But it does question the reporting of the whole thing like it just went down on Friday when we do know that 1) it did happen several weeks ago and 2) it was reported by firstcoastnews.com almost verbatim on 10/23, including the interview with the sister.

I need an aspirin.

If you scroll waaaaay down under the story there's a toggle icon with an exclamation mark - the button says "report article"....

I did...we all should.

ElizaAvalon, I followed that link that said On 11/16 firstcoastnews.com reported ... and could not find an article either.

There are a few comments under the article asking them to get their facts straight. One has asked whether he was interviewed on both dates.
