I had visited the web pages for a few of the elementary schools in the area and was surprised to not see any mention of Somer even in general terms like 'take extra caution' or 'we've added more supervision of area' or anything but thought maybe that kind of thing was sent via an emergency system like we have here (via email or text), and it was only sent directly to parents of the school.

NOBODY has been cleared by the sheriff ONLY the sherrif himself....and THAT's a gutsy thing to say no?

No one has been named as a suspect, just as no one, except the Sheriff, is cleared.

that makes sleuthing tough b/c everyone should be considered.

I sure wish the Sheriff would let us know if some have been cleared, then maybe we can stop the merry-go-round on some of the people/facts we keep bringing up.

Two possible issues with this.

1. Grove Park isn't within Orange Park city limits. It's an unincorporated part of Clay County which is why Clay County is investigating the case.

2. I believe if you can find a picture you will see that regular garbage trucks do not have the lift mechanism to up end a dumpster. Residential garbage trucks are loaded by hand into the back of the truck. Commercial dumpster trucks are loaded by lift into the top of the truck.

Who picks up commercial dumpsters? (Not talking construction dumpsters; I mean the dumpster a business would use.)

The same companies that pick up residential?

Would residential and commercial then be dumped into one of the hauling trucks or do they only put residential with residential and commercial with commercial.

Thanks for the input on the trash. LOL, it really is going to be the end of me.

Good morning everyone. I have some news on the church carnival.
I called the church and acted as if I were wanting to put one on myself.
Yes, they did host one: dates were 10/23/09-10/25/09.
The company was in town on Monday setting up (which would have been 10/19) according to the contract.
The majority of the people that helped at the event were chuch volunteers. However they use an out of town company based in Tampa that comes in to set up the rides, etc. They said they have used them for years. I have a company name and phone number. Is it okay to post?
The church is on Kinsgley Avenue, right off of DeBarry.

I was just going to respond to mommya but was trying to find the info that said the carnival was the weekend after Somer disappeared.

I'm glad you did not post the phone number.

Since LE has not named anyone a suspect, everyone is innocent and we have to be careful what we post.

Diena's lawyer, Michael Freed, hinted at progress in the police probe, telling Rodriguez he's "optimistic," based on "the information (authorities have) provided (to him) that they have the person who did this under observation, maybe among other people. They're waiting for certain scientific evidence to come back from certain unique labs around the country. They're putting great resources in to this, and this is really the perfect time for anyone that knows who did this or for the person that did this to help heal the wound that he's caused, not only of this family and the community, but, in fact, the nation. So I think that's just a matter of time before this is resolved and justice is done."


DT's lawyer says LE told him they have the person who did this under observation... wow that is great news.... :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

sadnpod debunked the "soot" info, saying it didn't come from a credible source.

I doubted the soot info when I first heard it, based on how close to the vest LE is with any and all evidence.

I'm leaning toward doubting the new info about the glass & construction debris, as well.

I'm not doubting the person who passed on the info - a friend of a friend, or a relative of a friend of a friend, just wondering who they originally might have heard it from. Certainly not LE - they're not telling anyone anything!

Unless someone slipped up, maybe someone involved in the investigation who confided in someone?

It also says DT wants to reach out to shaniya's father. I wonder if DT has read the latest statements coming from Shaniya's dad's brother and father. They don't have kind words for their brother/son.

ETA:also what shaniya's half sister has reported about their father.

I followed Somer since she went missing and was heartbroken when her body was found. I've been extremely busy with work and had the flu for the past couple of weeks and little Shaniya's case has taken all of my free time.

I've missed if they have released autopsy results or if there are any POI's. Can some kind person pleeeeease catch me up?

Noway - maybe it was Mommya you were thinking of - she asked a question about the carnival earlier this a.m. Or coulda been me - I was the one who said when I brought up the carnival yesterday, it didn't seem to generate much interest. But apparently, I was wrong!!!

Just catching up on things from a few pages back....about not being able to view the body at the funeral home.

There are a couple of main reasons why...first, is the autopsy, um, it can't be anything that the parents would want to see in the end....and 2nd, well, is that the body was exposed to the elements (sooo sorry for this)....a few days in the sun, a couple of nights with natures creatures...decay had to have set in right away under those conditions. Therefore it would have been recommended that there was no viewing.

Oh God I sorry for bringing the reality of this for y'all, but I thought it might help.
