I am a bit dim today , is this video prior to Somer's body being found? TIA

After, shortly after. Within the first 72 hours if I remember correctly.

If you haven't seen this or haven't read through it, you should.

It gives a great idea of all the things LE is asking/looking for.

http://www.missingkids.com/en_US/publications/NC88.pdf

There very easily could have been information they still needed to get from Diena. There also could have been instructions they wanted to give her on what to say and what not to say and maybe to get a little misinformation out there about what backpack/book bag Somer had. JMO

I think that was at the vigil the night she was found if not the following. I am sketchy on the vigils, but I do remember that as the setting....I think.

Things are lot easier when there are links. MOO.

The implication for that being they HAD those items recovered. You would not put misleading info out if you were still looking for them, right?

I eulogized my daddy with "I'll miss him." It signifies the chance for all the memories you could have had.
There is such a thing as overanalysis.

True very true I can totally see that logic

What I have trouble with is the boby was just found and saying a present tense with a future tense word

Verbs tell if something has already happened, if it will happen later, or if it is happening now

I love her and I`ll miss her!

Another good point! It might also be important to note his role as a liason, too. And not just his capacity as a financial advisor or entertainment lawyer.
A liason would imply him as a go between now of her and LE. This may indicate a distancing process. That's what I was wanting to determine yesterday. I was hoping there was no indication of impropriety there. I feel that has been answered now. Thanks, always.

BBM

One can assume that if the attorney is advising on what can & can't be said to media, he is also advising on what should & shouldn't be said to LE, since as the Sheriff has said, no one is cleared in this crime but himself.

I think there are several sleuthers here who still want to pursue looking at DT as the perp. I hope that they are not detered by ws members who do not agree that she could be a POI in this case. I think we can still sleuth her without bashing her or her lifestyle... IMO, ALL thoughts, clues should be welcome until this monster is found. So, if you are out there, holding back, please dont. Any leads are worth pursuing.. if you find ANYTHING factual.. please share it with the rest of us.. EVERYONE (thanks houndstooth for making me think instead of letting one bad apple spoil the group for me) here wants this monster caught, dead, or at least scared to death because we/LE are getting closer... Just my thoughts.

gosh, last thing I ever thought was that people on here would need permission to sleuth mom D. There are tons of pages attacking every last detail about her...and nobody has come up with anything of substance yet. Actually, I'm tired of going over the same bits video, words, and mannerisms that she has.

As dad T's cousin, do you really think he would sit back and have you ask questions on WS if he thought his wife was guilty of murdering his daughter? His first statement was that he was going to take the children away from mom D. so they could be safe with him. If anything tells me mom D. is innocent, it's dad T's inability to find her guilty. mho

I've read your post a few times and want to make sure I'm understanding your line of thinking.

Do you think that Diena gave description of backpack (as did AB who drove Somer to school as did AT and ST who walked home with Somer as did friends, teacher, etc.) and LE was unable to find actual items anywhere online or in retails stores.

So they put the sketches out for the public (the very people who are the cause of the rumors that are slowing down their investigation) to find in order to determine whether they are on a wild goose chase for the items?

Or are you thinking they released the sketches to give the public something to wild goose chase themselves?

TIA

If she didn't know, why on earth put out 5 or 6 different descriptions?

I was trying to figure out what was up with the sketches given 3 WEEKS LATER. It took 3 weeks to settle on an 'exact' description? And then to add if you find this, you find the killer had those things. Even an 8 year old would see holes in that for logic. So then you ask yourself, what could be the REAL reason. It seemed to me, they were putting it out there in front of the whole country, to see if this is describing actual items. Because they can't find them. They were not thinking that someone in Lincoln, Nebraska, or Bangor, Maine could be looking for S. missing items. But, only to figure out whether they were being led on a wild goosechase looking for items that don't actually exist.......AS described. Again.

This is one of the things she said that had me scratching my head.. I word I'll = I will. It's like saying I will go to the store. In the future
I would think a person would say "I miss her"

BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: In the middle of hundreds of people holding hundreds of candles, Somer Thompson`s mom, Diena, huddled with others in front of the vigil set up for her daughter.

DIENA THOMPSON: I love her and I`ll miss her!

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Diena thanked volunteers and even offered to pay them back for their efforts.

DIENA THOMPSON: I don`t know how I can ever repay any of you for helping me -- for looking for my baby!

Thank you ccane! I've been searching for that video clip, but they seem to be getting harder to locate these days.

The point is - IIRC (and I think I do, because it made me sit bolt upright in my chair) She made that comment "I'll miss her" before the body was even found and before they knew Somer had been murdered.

Yes, Cath - before.

Sorry if your answer has already been posted, but I'm still back on previous page catching up and want to post my thoughts before I forget.

ETA: IIRC - this was on the night of the first vigil, please correct me if I'm mistaken

BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ETA: now I see she didn't know her daughter had been murdered...Sorry, carry on!

I'm sorry, using verb tenses verbalized by an overwhelmed mom who just found out that her daughter was murdered and thrown in the garbage seems extremely petty to me.

Using 'I will' or 'I do' is irrevelent to me...I'm sure mom D. hadn't processed the tragic fact she will never see her daughter ever again. WTH????

ETA: Sorry, carry on! I now see she didn't know her daughter had been murdered.

ETA #2: Not sorry, she knew her body had been found but not yet forensically id with DNA! this is getting ridiculous!!!

Regarding the "I'll miss her" statement, if it wasn't made the first night, it was made the second night at the vigil, before the body had been positively ID'ed.

They had to know the real description of the book bag. Somers siblings as well and friends would know what it looked like also. So three days of getting info from DT said she said black book bag at the first press conference.

After they taped the AMW and DT did her interview that went black

Although the agency has not named a suspect, after program host, John Walsh, recounted the murder during Saturday's "America's Most Wanted" TV show, new information may have come to light, says spokesperson Mary Justino, of the Clay County (FL) Sheriff's Office in Orange Park.

I love people I have lost. I still love them and I will always miss them. I'm just not seeing the issue.

We're dissecting grammar, now?

ETA: That was also a broken statement, not indicated by the transcript. She said I love her, and then there was a pause to gain composure and she said then, I'll miss her. IIRC.

I remember this case vividly. Unbelieveable. I always wondered if his father had done anything terrible to punish him.. that he was so scared to get in trouble that he resorted to this horror...

It was sad... so sad.

Maddie's neighborhood was right across the street from me (not directly across, but I saw the house every time I went out). I remember seeing the boy's father at the gas station one evening, and then not too long after that I heard that he was killed in a car accident in Oregon.

I wondered about what went on earlier, too.

NOPE. It was after discovery, but before positive ID.
And before that becomes a tangent, recall that most everyone including LE knew it was Somer's body. That would have been transferred to DT, even if no one said it point blank.

I agree with you on the semantics of present and past tense - semantics are irrelevant and different people express themselves differently.

Personally, I'm not dissecting grammar, but the timeline in which the statement was made.

The timeline is relevant.

After discovery, how is that relevant?
