My heart truly breaks for the wandering little girl that is now an angel. Where is her voice in this? Wasnt she the victim? As shown by these posts, even "facts" are interpreted differently.

These are facts in my mind, and in my mind only.

Somer was neglected and spent time wandering. She was an easy victim. The school system is not in any responsible, if fact they tried to correct a problem in her home life when they observed a child environmentally endangered by not having proper supervision.

Everyone that should have protected her let her down and she is dead, indirectly, because of it. By this I mean her mother and DFCS.

Again I ask why are non-custodial parents NOT contacted when a report is filed? If he were contacted I would also blame ST, but he truly had no knowledge of her wanderings. I believe DT lied to dfcs, I believe her neighbor may have to, if she supported the lie that the kids were now being supervised.

This report only contains information regarding somer, because her records are available due to her being deceased. Reports on her siblings are not available, but I believe they are there. I also believe this is not the only one.

DT continues to concentrate on how this affects her and her innocence in all of it. Poor, pitiful me, I just didnt know. Reminds of alcoholics that claim they are not responsible because they blacked out and dont remember what they did. I am truly amazed by this. It appears she has not learned from what happened and that saddens me most of all. There are other children still depending on her choices.

Somer deserves a voice. She deserves attention in death that she never received in life. Lets continue to work together to that end. Justice for SOMER, the victim. When that happens, I will respectfully agree with you Ms Suzanne and others, CASE CLOSED.

No matter who killed this child and how they did it, monster, it, gruesome, quick, pointless, motive, angry, jealous, etc. etc. etc.

This person knew she would be unattended. That is the only way this person could have commited this crime in the middle of the day without anyone noticing anything. She was unsupervised and had been unsupervised for a long time. Everybody in the neighborhood knew she ran off. Doesn't anyone wonder why there was not some system in place involving grandma and grandpa (with whom the children stay a lot nowadays) and "good" friends and neighbors?

Rather than correct the problem, her mother chose to promise a DCFS caseworker that Somer would be supervised/safe, she involved a neighbor or neighbors in the so-called plans, just long enough to pull one over on DCFS. And then discontinued those plans as soon as the investigation was over. Those cover ups and lies and the continuing self-victimization when this little girl died (who knows how violently and how much panic, fear and suffering she endured) are so sickening.... they border on evil, IMO. It's strange, but every time I try to find a reason to discount DT's conscious or unconscious involvement in this, she does or says something ridiculous all over again and just piles more on the huge mountain of discrepancies, lies and questionable behaviors.

One of the least recognizable features of this type of personality is they manage to continually cast blame away from themselves and make others look guilty for even questioning them.

If she is worried how "people" will view her as a mother ... well, I am more worried about the sad lives of the surviving children, especially the little ones. It's some small compensation to know that they are "being driven to school every day" NOW, but they have to carry their memories with them and their mother's continued denial.

There are no known facts that say the person who killed Somer knew she would be unattended. That is pure speculation.
She could have been snatched IMO by someone who had never even laid eyes on her before.

I don't know how I feel about your question. I first thought maybe it would just be too hard on her to have to drive the kids through the same route Somer disappeared from. Then I thought how the other 2 kids have to deal with this too while being driven this route where their sister disappeared and go to the same school Somer went to. I don't know, but I think I would want to be the one to go with them so if they cried I would cry with them. I know it must be hard on DT to follow that route where Somer was last seen, but it is hard on her other children too.

speculation vs. statistics, I sure hope LE hasn't wasted all of that time, manpower and taxpayer money following up on their theories of stalking, serial killers, and etc.

Your perp just happens to be there. Never having seen her before, he just decides to take her in broad daylight, kill her with the risk of getting caught and then find an unknown dumpster to put her in. And he is still operating in the community, putting money in the fund buckets. And LE is clueless.

sorry, but as a mom, your number one job is to take care of and protect your children....she should be going through all the emotions with them....whether she wants to face it or not....this is how healing begins. She is strong enough....she now needs to be involved with every aspect of their lives.

I agree & just going down Gano would be hard as that was the last place she was seen. I imagine there would be many triggers. Plus her daughter has been murdered & the monster has not been caught, wouldn't you want to personally take your children to school perhaps even walk them in and walk them out until this monster has been caught? I would be taking no chances as the motive for killing Somer is not known KWIM?

ok well nevermind then, im sure it is in her best interest and the best interest of the kids for her to have someone else see after them.....wasn't this part of the problem in the first place? GREAT IDEA!

The article states her siblings have received rides everyday since. It doesn't state who is giving them rides, whether it is DT or the neighbors.

That "manual" is called: COMMON BASIC SENSE something she has clearly not demonstrated, yet.

Please go ask other parents who have been through what she is going through -- I have to wonder what they would say... I wonder if John Walsh would approve

Since you brought it up, I don't see anybody blaming his wife for letting Adam out of her site for a few minutes in a store.
What's the difference really? In reality, she should have kept her eyes on him the whole time.
But, she didn't. I'm not blaming her, I'm trying to make a point.
If every parent kept their kids by their sides 24/7 no child would be taken by
strangers and murdered.
Are all parents that this happens too guilty? NO
I just don't choose to blame DT for this. IMO she did not kill Somer, her "neglect" did not kill Somer.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Diena was driving them to school herself she would have said so, as her other quotes were very defensive, but that is just MO.

While several of the children denied being lost, I didn't see that they denied being in the woods. Perhaps someone local would know the answer to this: is there a shortcut home from the school through the woods? Also, I know in my area of Florida, there are frequently homeless camps in the woods, often quite near major thoroughfares. Is that the case there?

I didnt see any homeless camps, but there are woods and shortcuts.. pics are in noways posts. Good point zannah.
