Here is another thought. Since one of DT's co-workers said that she worked with her that day in the OP office, just a hop skip and jump to somer's school and home, could somer have been thinking she would run to where her mom was working since she was upset and had run ahead of her siblings? Anyone local know what route she most likely would have taken in this scenario, and has anyone thought of that? Has anyone mapped it from 1080 Gano, where she was last seen, to the OP office where her mother was working? I am going to do that now just out of curiosity.

We actually can't take what is reported on TV or written in news articles or the word of LE as a "fact" in this case. I've known NG to get her facts wrong, I've seen articles in newspapers that were wrong, and LE (in this case) actually lied about the reason 4 burglary suspects were listed as being arrested at DT's house. LE said the reason was that one of the detectives who was at DT's house was called away to the scene of a burglary and he just forgot to change the address on the form. It wasn't even on the same day the MPR was done. So if we have to believe that only the above 3 sources give us th facts, then we are factless. IMO

I agree with you that the media gets it wrong all the time, or one quote can be taken out of context and look to mean something entirely different. But I don't think LE necessarily lied about the burglary suspects.

Newspaper reported, "The day Somer disappeared, a deputy who was among those who responded to the missing girl’s home was called away to an unrelated armed robbery. He arrived at the second scene and caught four suspects, Beseler said. When the officer wrote the report, he forgot to change the address on the call, resulting in armed robbery arrests mistakenly tied to the Thompson home."

The newspaper could have reported it wrong that it happened the day Somer disappeared. Take out that one bit of information, insert correct date, and you have a logical explanation.

yes, I have thought this very same thing....Somer would have turned left after coming out of the front of the school, she then would have headed down gano, she could have turned left down Grove Park Dr, or kept going down Gano and turned left on Debarry to head up to Kingsley, then take a right and not far on the right side of the road would be DT's office....I think there is also another road that she could have taken between Grove park and Debarry, but cannot recall the name right now....she could have also stayed straight on Gano, all the way to her big brother's school....the back left corner of the school, butts up to Mom's place of employment......hope this makes sense....

OK, it is one mile from 1080 Gano to the OP office where DT was said to be working that day. Start out going west on Gano toward Fromhart , go .2 miles then turn left onto Grove Park Dr., go .4 miles and turn right onto Kingsley, then it is .5 miles to the OP office. That is the route if you stay on the street or sidewalk. If somer cut around behind the Gano house and crossed Deberry farther down, BEHIND AND OUT OF SIGHT of the crossing guard at Gano and Deberry and came out on Grove Park Dr. she could have disappeared on Grove Park Drive or Kingsley. Completely in the opposite direction from 1080 Gano and her home on Horton Drive.

New1:

I never said media outlets are never wrong.
But, comments from posters on sites are a little different right? I mean we don't know who they are or why they say things.
You have to admit that media outlets are a better place to find facts than a message board right?

I was not argueing the validity of the comment the lady said. I was just trying to point out, that the cases that I have followed here at Websleuths, it was always known that comments on a message board are to be treated as rumor. I simply pointed that out.

I think you can if they have been named in the media. But you might wait for someone less new to WS's TOS to answer that one just to be on the safe side.

Can someone on here tell me if I sent them a message by mistake? I sent a message and I might have sent it to the wrong person

We are thinking about giving Somer her own sub forum.

Do you all think you will have enough to talk about to keep a sub forum up and running? Please let me know what you think on this thread.

Also, if we do make a sub forum, we will need a moderator. You wouldn't be a full fledged moderator. You would be like a "moderator light."LOL.

If you are interested please email me at [email protected] and put in the subject line; SOMER

Thanks,
Tricia

Gee, Thanks Hillary!! I appreciate all your info as a friend and former co-worker.
I surely am glad to know for sure that DT was right there 5 minutes away that day

I am sure you are just mad as heck at the mean ole reporter you thought was on YOUR side ( you and DT, that is), turned out to do a halfway decent report. Because in point of fact he did state his support for her. A fact he may come to rue someday. It is actually EXPECTED, can you believe it, that a reporter be impartial and objective in his reporting.

You say this report may be key to finding the killer if you suspect DT or DFS. Well, I do in fact suspect DT. And better yet, I know just what you mean by that.

Thanks also for telling us that lil ST lied about the man in the woods. You know, I don't believe there was a stranger back then and I don't believe there is one now!!

Keep up the good work. You are doing a fine job.

Isn't there one house between the 1080 Gano house and Deberry? Somer could have actually gone out the gate at the Gano house, turned left and went between the two houses to the back of the house in between and crossed Deberry behind the crossing guard, couldn't she? She could have been taken almost anywhere - maybe even from the back yard of the house next door to 1080 Gano. I don't know anything about how the street is, but are there only those 2 houses on Gano Ave on the left? The 1080 one and the one next to it toward Deberry? That's the way it looks to me from photos I have seen on here. Cam? Do you know how many houses there are from 1080 Gano to Deberry?

I have always wondered about the house next door to gano and the people that live there.

Oh....thank you. I had that all wrong in my mind. One more question. Can you see Debarry from Grove Park Drive? Could Somer have avoided the crossing guard at Debarry by turning left on Grove Park Drive? That's TWO questions, sorry.

If you were at the corner of Gano & Grove Park, you could see Debarry. But once you start going down Grove Park, you wouldn't be able to see Debarry. And yes, Somer could have avoided the crossing guard at Debarry by turning down Grove Park, either towards Kingsley or towards (in a roundabout way) her home.
