Those accounts are so different. Why would the mom and eyewitness lie about what the child said and what they witnessed? Why would the LE agent just leave the scene? Why wouldn't he just come forward and state his case?

The swim coach from Bolles (jacksonville)also moved to "that" area. He quit to take another job, and was found dead. Suicide. It appeared from news articles he wanted to quit before the olympics, but then stayed until after.

They didn't say anything about the evidence tests that were suppose to be coming back.I wonder what's going on with the tests and what they are finding out.

That comment was taken from this article

Did anyone know that Somer and the little girl who had the abduction attempt made on her had had any contact?

This all seems so strange to me

I thought the mother later came forward and said this was not correct. That her daughter walked home with another girl. I'll try to find that.

I did at one time email the reporter and ask whether it was removed from the article because it was erroneous. I did not hear back.

LOL, maybe the reporter didn't like having errors pointed out?

The reporter I emailed was Dana Treen at jacksonville.com ... not sure if that is the article from which you pulled that info. I emailed her on 12/25 and she read the message that same day. (ETA: Yes, it's very sad that both of us were on our computers on Christmas Day!)

Just for giggles, I'll try again.

It seems entirely probable that the almost-abducted 5yo walked home with Somer as she lived on the same street, in the same block IIRC, as MC, the child whose uncle reported they walked home together the day Somer disappeared.

Another interesting one

"If the ccso would look into one of it's own 'They might find out who killed the kid' Just look in the apartments on well rd next to the mall."

I saw this comment last week. There are a few different apartment complexes across from the mall, but with this comment saying "next to the mall" I take it to mean the complex that is right behind the Hooters. Very interesting, but all based on rumors, so I take it with a grain of salt.

I thought I'd read that the mother said it was a mistake and that her daughter walked home with some other girl she thought was Somer or that the mother thought was Somer ... that's why I was hoping the reporter would let me know. I sent the email under my real name, not Noway, hoping I'd increase the chance of a response.

I'm actually picturing the Sheriff mentioning the error but that his statement was based on what the mother and her daughter said. Some day I will learn to save all videos to my YouTube or my hard drive.

Thompson said her pain even now is just as intense as it was the day her daughter disappeared.

Diena Thompson Talks To Jennifer Waugh
Three months after her daughter was killed, Diena Thompson says the pain she feels is just as intense.
"I do a lot of my crying in the afternoon. I don't want to make anyone sad," Thompson said.

She said picking her children up from school can be incredibly difficult.

"It's painful because I don't know what happened," Thompson said. "I don't know exactly where she went missing, and every time I drive down that road, all I can do is think about those things. I literally feel like I'll have a panic attack just knowing that that's the last place she was."

Thompson said she talks with investigators every week, and while they have not told her a lot about the investigation, like how her daughter was killed, they have hinted about who may have done it.

My heart so goes out to DT. She sounds like she is a very strong and unselfish person , its amazing the strength human beings can find within themselves in the face of great tragedy.

I feel encouraged if they are hinting that they may know who did this. It seems signs point to LE watching a suspect, maybe even someone held in jail already on another charge. But I don't get why its taking so long if this is the case!

The other incidents with the possible attempts are so confusing.

In this article, the mother says her daughter told her that her and Somer had walked home together previously, but nothing about the day of Somer's disappearance.

This is what it said when I had emailed Dana.

The mother of the 5-year-old told the Times-Union her daughter was friends with Somer, who has been missing since Monday afternoon. The mother said her daughter told her last night the two girls had previously walked home from Grove Park Elementary school together.

I guess the part about them being friends is what was removed.

Yep, about 2 houses away and on the other side of the street if we can trust the Google Map. (uncle GC and mom AB live here anyway)

The part that was removed from the article was that they (the 5 yo in the non-abduction and Somer) were friends.

Actually Dar gave a very interesting link & portions of it in an article early on this thread & I copied a statement that struck me...that the crime scene is usually only 200 ft. (IIRC) & it was a high % of cases, from the where the body was disposed. We were discussing the Hooter & Wells Rd. rumor so...this could make really make sense. I will see if I can dig up that link. I remember looking at the map after that...looking at the screen next to Hooter to the right looked like town houses or a strip mall, there is a car rental place there, so I wasn't sure if these were townhouses or a strip mall LOL.

Conversely, the distance between the initial contact site and the murder site increases to distances greater than 1/4 mile (54%). The distance from the murder site to the body recovery site again decreases, to less than 200 feet in 72 percent of cases.

It was discovered that once the murder investigation has begun, the name of the killer is known to the police within the first week in 74% of cases.

Snipped & BBM

Thank you Dar! WoW, if we knew the dumpster location there would be a 72% chance of the murder site being within 200 feet. We need to see 200 ft around Hooters, wish we had the other business location. We need another clue on this other dumpster location.

The last sentence in the article gives me hope this case will be solved at some point anyway.
Hope this works, if not...will try again (sigh).

I know a lot people do not like statistics, although I am famous lol for saying "I never say never". I look first at statistics/probabilities & back track from there, but that is just me (I love Joy's statement in that regard).

I remember that too, however one of the first news conferences, he had this mother there beside himself & turned the mike over to her so she could explain the incidence. Of course this was very early on, it was still strange (I thought that was strange when it happened). But I remember a video of him explaining what actually happened after investigating...something about an off-duty cop/sports game/girl being lost (something along those lines anyway).

Oh, how we need a sub-forum for this case; it is not going away to be solved quickly like we have all hope & prayed for.
