FL - Somer Thompson, 7, Orange Park, 19 Oct 2009 #36

I've got 2 questions...

- why was this house - if it is indeed along the path that Somer would have taken between school and the corner of Gano and where she would have made a right to go home - was not looked at before now?!! If it was vacant in October it should have been zeroed in on immediately.

- why hasn't JH been online since November? His MS and various other online presences end in November.

Here is a map from 1080 to 1152. She was going closer to home.

. I made a left onto another block which is unlabeled half a block from this house and there is a DUMPSTER.

Looks like an apartment complex or something. I can't find the name of this street (left instead of across the street). Very strange that there is an apartment complex there.

He was described as "reclusive" by his former roommates. It doesn't seem a reclusive type would be out in crowds and seeking attention.

I have gone back and watched the video three times now.

I have changed my mind. I dont think he is in the gathering there.

Maybe it's me, but shouldn't the entire area from where Somer was last seen to where the crossing guard who said she didn't see her was standing have been completely scoured??

How many houses could we be talking about here?

I'm going to be so pissed if the detectives didn't so much as knock on the door at the POI's location.

And another thing - who is on this child detail anyway? From August until now this guy has been walking free?

But I give a big round of applause to the whoever it was that made the connection between the Gano address and JH...

No, we haven't found anything about him as RSO to my knowledge.

Before the press conference last night, most media was referencing info they did have and were receiving from the neighbors. Local media seemed as surprised as anybody else when the Jarred Harrell name was released. [sorry if that's wrong spelling]

Sheriff of Clay County refused to comment about the case last week because the killer was watching media coverage. [See news4jax "Inside the Somer Case" article.] Very possible he was following it online, too.

It was occupied until December per the neighbors. Trash started appearing again at the curb this week, though still unoccupied.

I believe I heard on the news last night that it was a Clay County Sheriffs Office + Jax Sheriffs Office joint investigation.

o/t but adding it anyway - FBI also searched a residence in Callahan where I think this guy lived after leaving Orange Park. They [local media] did say that one of the few things they had found out about him was that he moved a lot. At age 25, it's very likely he just crashed at Mom's house when he needed to.

Has anybody heard where he werked in O.P./Jax? 2 former co-workers were interviewed last night, but never said who their employer is.

I just read the arrest warrant and I feel sick to my stomach. Whether or not he is Somer's killer, this guy is a danger to society. He needs to be locked up for a looong time. I mean truly, after reading that, I could throw up.

Also, does anyone know when the computer was actually processed? I know it was received in August but why is he just now being arrested? I'm confused.

IDK the answer to your question.

Not trying to make excuses for JSO, but I can see a computer turned in by a roommate going on the back burner for a while. Not sure the legalities of JSO looking at it - especially since they may have thought the roommate was mad for other reasons such as unpaid rent & other common roomie complaints.

Just based on MOPE - JSO used to have terrible internal communications, esp re:evidence room. [Won't bore you w/details, but evidence for a violent crime was sitting in their evidence room for 2 weeks. I had to point it out to them AND connect the dots when I arrived to retrieved the evidence from there. Yeah, I wuz very pizzed.]
