I feel for the girl and boy roommate, her father said she was going to consider councilling after wat she had to view, between what she saw and knowing she lived with a child killer that would make anyone upset. I pray that she and her bf can find peace and not dwell on those disgusting images...

Maybe the computer analysis would take a week, but it is possible he didn't take these pictures himself & therefore they would have to subpoena records to prove Jared did make the purchase(s) which could take as Angeleena pointed out they could have 30 days to produce records after getting another subpoena for those records. Could be downloaded pictures from other pedos perhaps, again needing ISP information as well.

I am still scratching my head if all this was done in November, it seems like quite a delay. If they had DNA or fingerprint evidence on Somer, they would an arrest not just call him a POI KWIM? They certainly could be waiting for J's DNA to come back & that shouldn't take very long, unlike the specialized tests they were doing.

I am cautiously optimistic at this point. Tuesday can't come soon enough! And this perv. needs to be locked-up regardless.

I agree and am very happy that they turned them in right away.

But I do wonder why they kept looking at them.

It says on the arrest warrant that they were looking to see if thye could see Jarred's---------------- (long names blocked out).

Why would you keep looking?

And I agree. I think the public should be asked if any of them are suspicious that their children might have been used by him. Or if they believe that someone's children might be involved as some parents allow their children to make films like that. They even sell them on the net.

I don't think LE needs JH on the loose to lead them to anything. The info is on the computer if they are looking for bigger fish to fry.

I think that the roomies reminded LE of the computer they had in their hands...and it went from there....after Somer went missing. JMO. I am a huge fan of LE...perhaps this department was just that overwhelmed with computer forensics having to do with kiddie porn...but it is time then to change protocol. Maybe it was even a paperwork error...but oh my GOD, look what this mistake might have cost. Someone irreplaceable.

He could have a credit/debit card and/or a phone that they tracked to Mississippi.

He sure could have. He didn't have a job, tho, so I wonder where he got his money. His Mother and Stepdad could have helped him out with travel money to Mississippi, as well as a cell phone. One thing about it, I find it very hard to believe that the two of them were not aware of JH's sickness and obsession with child porn.

The FBI confiscated the aunts' computer. I am wondering if he visited some child porn sites on it. The location of the computer can be traced.

I have been reluctant to say it, but I do hope he does not have pics of Somer on a CD with his belongings. That would be so very horrible for Somer's family. I want JH to be gotten on DNA and other evidence, not pics of Somer.

My on arrested for marijuana in Arkansas a few years ago and had to give a DNA sample when he was arrested. I am sure though all states are different.

That is the way it is here in Louisiana, CarmelEyes. The Booking Officer does the DNA swab as a part of the booking on the arrests that require it. A lot of states are different, tho, as you say.

To get all these warrants for house searching relative's homes - I'm thinking - they must have something to convince a judge he is a suspect in Somer's death.

Further more, digging out yard, I imagine, would require a pretty specific warrant - and - (I'm absolutley not an expert, so I'm asking) - wouldn't they usually NOT have a digging-around-the-yard warrant for a straightforward digital porn case?

I think they have stuff back from forensics that links JH to Somer.

Alternatively, his Aunt or other relative turning in a lunch box works too. But ... given her initial reaction, JH's Aunt seems to feel he's just the Pillsbury Doughboy. So, I'm thinkin' it's warrants based on links made via the forensics lab.

Also to think that's the situation - and they have nailed him - make me sleep better at night.

I agree Emma, those were very specific warrants looking for trace evidence of a crime of murder.

What gets me is the Shock and Awe of those warrants being served and his arrest. Seems like they had a real BINGO moment!

Distribution can be in many ways - internet, in person, etc (I don't know all the ways child porn is distributed). I'm wondering how many people are involved with this guy - could be lots or all by himself? Just maybe, LE have broken up a large ring in the child porn industry.

LALaw or anyone who knows - aren't the penalties different for possession, production, and distribution? All are felonies, but is the penalty more serious for one or the other? TIA

It was reported they were using rakes and shovels at the search of his Gano home. Have not heard anything about looking for a possible body but would not surprise me.

Are you saying that in Callahan, people were told there was a murder investigation right there in Callahan? Was LE digging up the yard in Callahan? Or did I misunderstand? TIA

I wish I could answer you. I think it depends on the amount, but I would tend to think production and distribution would be the most serious. Really do not know.

Is the Mother and Stepfather alive and accounted for? How about any Grandmothers/Grandfathers? IIRC, the home was dark and no one home after the search on the video I saw.

The mods said that the family is not allowed to be discussed. There was info posted about them in previous threads, but I don't know if they have been deleted.

They are alive as far as anyone knows. Don't know about the grands, though. I doubt if they live in Florida-the perps grands.

In defending the time it took to process the August porn charge, Clay County Sheriff mentioned that, along with other tasks, they had to research bank charges on dates of downloads. That indicates at least some of the material was bought online.

As far as the investigation on the computer goes, getting records from different companies on financial transactions, phone calls, ISP information etc. is not a quick task. In most cases, a company is given 30 days to comply and provide the information requested in the subpoena.

One of the articles said that if the case had been rightfully prioritized, that the computer analysis would've been done in a week.

I can get copies of my checks on line in seconds. I really don't get it. Really.
