Is there any factual info. out there that says LE have definitely taken DNA from J.H? There seems to be some conflicting stories, and i live in Orlando, and from what i have seen on our local news channels, i don't see anything much about this case, only that they have a POI. Nothing i have seen to date since then.

IIRC, the only source is JH's dad. JH or someone told him that JH ended up giving his DNA after they got it from him. So no, to my knowledge their is nothing factual about that.

I believe it is a fact now that they have taken his DNA. Florida just passed a law where anyone arrested for a felony has to give their DNA.

Didn't one of the first articles say that, at first, JH declined giving a DNA sample and so they went to his dad. And then they say that he later did end up giving a sample.


Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I could have sworn that's what I read.

I don't believe the bit about them not have signing paperwork or him not being given a lawyer when he had asked.

I think he thought he was being charged in Mississippi because he was arrested there.

He didn't get that he was being HELD there in Miss. because the warrant from Florida, and that it was in Florida where he had to get the attorney and see the judge on his first court appearance.

I'm sure he gets it now.

But he is ACCUSED of a FELONY.

TALLAHASSEE — Under a new law signed by Gov. Charlie Crist on Tuesday, the DNA of any person accused of a felony will be added to a state database.

Florida is the 20th state to require police to take a DNA sample, such as a mouth swab, of everyone charged with a felony. The state will hold on to that sample, even if the felony charge is dismissed. Previously, authorities could take a DNA sample only after conviction of a felony or specified misdemeanors.

"This is common sense and the right thing to do," Crist said at a bill signing ceremony at which he was accompanied by dozens of uniformed state troopers.

I've read his bond is $1,000,003.00 and I've read $1.3M. Are these the same number? Wouldn't the latter be $1,300,00.00?

No, the $3 is some kind of administrative/filing cost.

Three dollars. I saw it on a bunch of bond amounts and we had a discussion. I don't know the source for what it is, but it makes sense.

Anyone using $1.3 million is wrong. His bond is $1 million and there is a $3 charge. Not a $300,000 charge.

Thanks all for your helpful comments to my question. I guess then if they have definitely charged him with a felony, as it looks to be the case, then they can definitely get his DNA, if for no other reason than to prove he was or wasn't the criminal that did this. I know from some of the real life crime shows i have seen, then once DNA is substantiated, they immediately arrest that person on the charge of first degree murder, or whatever they will charge them with.

That is what i understand also. That it was originally $1 million.

Yep, that is how it is on TV but in real life just because they have a DNA match that doesn't mean they can prove murder. He can yes I raped her but I let her go. I think they will process all the evidence they got in the searches first before they charge him with more.

I have to say that I strongly hope JH is involved with Somers death but I get a feeling he's not involved. When Somer first went missing didn't LE's hinky meter go off right away about this guy, after all they knew about the child on his computer right. Even if they didn't know where he he was currently living (which should have been a BIG RED FLAG) they did have his picture, get it through DMV easily...LE even said theres a monster out there and your children are in danger..(something like that)...Anyway why wasnt he a PIO then??? why didnt they show his picture to the public....Am I missing something??? I just don't see this guy involved. A SO yes, but having child , to murder. It doesn't fit in. He had no violent rap sheet just traffic violations. JMO..
