I bet all the parents with children who walk by that house on Gano, on their way to and from school each day, must be worried sick. I'm sure Somer isn't the only child who loves animals and would stop to pet a dog.

Doubt any parent thought a child molester was living just feet from where their children walked each day. What a nightmare for everyone! MOO

The fact that he was not a RSO could also explain this. I know I've looked to see if any were in my neighborhood. There aren't any. So, many parents might think it's safe. I don't because I follow true crime and see these stories every day.

Noway, I think they roped off the house with crime investigation vehicles which appeared to surround the front of the house. They treated it like a crime scene. We do know now it was a crime scene. I wonder if they went back to it once they found the pics on the camera or did they know about that before they went in?

They had police cars blocking the road about two houses on each side the night of the search.

I think it is possible they have dna from a sexual nature but that alone would not be enough to prove he killed her. He could always say he sent her down the road after he was done. I think they would want to process all the evidence they got in the last searches to bolster the case if possible.

February 11: Homes on Gano Avenue, Orange Park, FL, in Callahan, FL, and in Meridian, MS, were searched along with a vehicle in Meridian, MS. Source

February 11: Investigators find SD card with child pornographical images during their search of his mother's home in Callahan, where he also stayed.

All 3 homes were searched and JH's vehicle was searched on the same day. The digital camera with child images found at mom's was the reason for new charges - right? Did they make any of the 3 homes or the vehicle a 'crime scene'. I don't remember! TIA

I hate to think that, but I guess it's possible.

We know that one of Somer's friends said Somer would sometimes stop at his house to pet a white dog.

But, if he had been abusing her, you can bet he got it on film. That seemed to be his thing. You think he would have destroyed it? He didn't destroy the other film.

This whole case has me thinking too much of how this pig thought. I hate it.


I still think he grabbed her that day because she was alone. I don't think he had abused Somer before.

It would be interesting to hear from Somer's brother and sister about this, since they all walked together from school. I'm sure if he had "something" for little girls that the older sister could say if he ever accosted her, since he lived at that address for what it seems like a long time.

And all the other little girls who walked to and from school via Gano street. Who knows how many he could have been following for future grooming. He is a pedophile and a child molester who molests in safe surroundings such as his bedroom - wonder what his MO is for grooming a child?

JH has been described as a 'gentle giant' and a 'dough boy', certainly not descriptions that would scare a child.

I just find it difficult to believe Somer was accosted by J.H. before this crime was committed against her. I think Somer would have said something to her Mom or sibs. I am sure someone in her family would have noticed a difference in her behaviour? I am puzzled that at least her 10yr. old sister, if they all walked home together, did not go after her, if she took off by herself? If i left my older child in charge of the younger ones, then i would as a mother definitely stress to the older child, not to dare let them out of your sight? But that is me! Is it known if Somer frequently took off on her own, and wouldn't this have been brought to her mother's attention, and wouldn't you think if she was prone to stopping and patting the dog, someone else would have been with her on most of those occasions? Was mom aware of this?
Also if the neighbours were so aware of J.H., then wouldn't someone have seen something if he lured her to his place? Too many questions, sorry!

Yes, that would make the house on Gano a crime scene.

But I don't think that was the only thing they were searching for there, they were treating it as a possible murder scene too. I don't think they were searching the yard for evidence having to do with the pics.

Just a point of interest ... Paris_Paris brought this to my attention.

IF Somer turned LEFT on Grove Park, about halfway down is an entrance to the drainage ditch. On street view, it looks like there is an opening in the fence which would make it easy to follow the drainage ditch that goes up to Gano (behind and next to Jarred's house).

It is possible that Somer took this route so she could watch her siblings pass by.

I wonder whether the people whose properties surround that ditch saw anything.

Is it possible there are more questionable citizens in that area who saw something and for their own reasons, have kept quiet? Reward money means nothing if you end up going to prison.

I believe anything is a possibility until we know more of the facts, surrounding Somer's death. I just can't get over the fact of the screwed up world we live in, where our children aren't safe anywhere! I remember growing up as a child, and it was so much simpler back then. People used to be able to go out and leave their doors unlocked, and come home to their homes still intact. Children could wander with their friends and have an adventure and come home safe. Life these days really does leave a lot to be desired! We would still like to think we could trust, but it seems not!

Just think too, if J.H. isn't the murderer that killed Somer, then that monster is still on the loose out there somewhere! Parents have to be so protective these days, more so than ever. What a sad world.
