I don't buy the fact this Watkins guy was looking at child on his computer to look into anything to do with Somer's case. That just doesn't make sense. He had something else in mind i think! Also why this before Somer's death??? Doesn't add up! Did L.E. really buy that?

My guess is this Watkins guy got out on bail because he didn't have any production of child charges! The only reason i can think of anyway. This is why J.H's case is more serious. The other guy was just looking??? To me i don't care if someone browses this stuff twice or a hundred times, its still the same really, that they look at it at all. If this man had kids in his home????? A bit strange to me. He was then obviously familiar with Somer, and she with him! Wonder if D.T. knew that Somer spent time there?And as far as i'm concerned J.H. is still a POI in this case, and like we have seen, POI doesn't really have anything to make me think he was positively involved in Somer's death. L.E. need to charge him absolutely in involvement with Somer before i'm convinced he did it! Guess time will tell.

I don't think we know for sure she spent time there. He said he knew Somer and she most likely had been in his home (paraphrasing) because a lot of his grandchidren's friends would come over.
I don't think he said she for sure had been to his home.

Marcus Barnett, Watkins' attorney, did talk to Cosby.

"He's mortified. He's distraught. He doesn't understand how this happened," said Barnett.

Barnett admitted his client knew Somer Thompson. They were neighbors. Barnett said Somer was friends with Watkins' grandkids and played at his house.

Barnett said Watkins was trying to help investigators find Somer.

"He asked how he could help and they said well she may be involved in some child issues, so he went online looking for her. And he would look at images, from what I understand according to the indictment, no its not Somer- click delete, click delete," said Barnett. "He was legitimately trying to help and its in the 'no good deed goes unpunished school.'"


The articles so far are confusing with the time line. I am not sure whether to think there is something wrong here with this man or he did something incredibly stupid while trying to help. If it was September that they found a download then his story makes zero sense of course. Maybe his computer was searched right away because DT was asked about any men in the neighborhood that Somer was familiar with, and he popped out in her mind.

Yeah, I see that article has him stating matter of factly that Somer spent time at his home.
The article from earlier today, he said she may have.

Creepy.

I was almost willing to believe him because he only had 2 pictures.

But, as you say Dar, the timeline stinks to high Heaven. You can't look for a child in September that goes missing in October.
Surely his attorney that keeps telling this story should realize that.

Maybe they are jumping to what some would say - logical conclusions? If so, that is terrible reporting. We have spent some 40 threads discussing if Somer was raped or not - and we still don't have an answer. moo

Authorities state they found the on W's computer from investigating Somer's case.
I wonder what led to him? Did he have the same images/video that JH did?

The judge gave him some pretty strict bond restrictions.

In JH's case, each photo was a count.

So, the pictures could have been him looking for images of Somer because he heard child may be related, but the video in Sept. 09??? :waitasec:

And, like Doc said earlier, I find it odd that they were searching computers that early, if they were searching everyone's.

I kind of think that they may have had reason to search his.

He could have been on the list of people to call if Somer didn't come home. (In the video posted above by Twall, it says that Somer and her siblings played at his house. So he would have been someone LE talked to right away, IMO.)

Not much new info and they STILL have 2 lasts names in the article.

The reporter on that video says of Somer "she's the little girl who was kidnapped and raped in her neighborhood; her body was found days later in the landfill in Georgia" ... @ 0:11 ish on mine but 0:15 or so on others'.

I didn't see a reporter's name associated with the article but I posted a comment asking them to make that update.

ETA: I saw this: "Barnett told Channel 4's Jim Piggott that Walker knew Somer was actually helping authorities search for her" and emailed Jim, saying that since his name was associated with the story, he probably would want it to be accurate.

There are at least two men with the "wrong" last name in Orange Park, and I don't think they want their names confused with that of a child pornographer.
