Marcus Barnett, Watkins' attorney, did talk to Cosby.

"He's mortified. He's distraught. He doesn't understand how this happened," said Barnett.

Barnett admitted his client knew Somer Thompson. They were neighbors. Barnett said Somer was friends with Watkins' grandkids and played at his house.

Barnett said Watkins was trying to help investigators find Somer.

"He asked how he could help and they said well she may be involved in some child issues, so he went online looking for her. And he would look at images, from what I understand according to the indictment, no its not Somer- click delete, click delete," said Barnett. "He was legitimately trying to help and its in the 'no good deed goes unpunished school.'"


The articles so far are confusing with the time line. I am not sure whether to think there is something wrong here with this man or he did something incredibly stupid while trying to help. If it was September that they found a download then his story makes zero sense of course. Maybe his computer was searched right away because DT was asked about any men in the neighborhood that Somer was familiar with, and he popped out in her mind.

hey everybody! just catching up on Somer's thread... I was gone the last week house hunting for our next military move. I didn't forget about Somer or all of you guys here keeping the faith for her and for justice. Any updates?

I agree! He's trying to make child gramps look like a victim, a martyr! He was just trying to help with the investigation of Somer more than TWO weeks before anything happened. Either this lawyer is very misinformed or he thinks the public are illiterate.

Could it be that Gramps downloaded pics from JH? He was discovered by the search of JH's computer? :waitasec:

The indictment shows that the child found on Walker's computer was downloaded in September, a couple of weeks before Somer disappeared.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. this watkins man must have been totally stupid in thinking that downloading child was going to find this childs killer... ummm duh, didn't he know that it is illegal to have child in your possession? hehe, guess not, but I bet he knows now. it just totally floors me to know that right under this childs feet were all these creeps. yeah I bet that jh and this watkins man traded pics like I used to trade baseball cards as a youngster....

No, I just meant that March 19 was the anniversary of Somer's disappearance, and there is usually an article which keeps Somer's name out there.

I thought Somer disappeared in October???

Well, all i can deduce from any of this is that, so far in The Somer case, L.E. have arressted two people on child charges, in the close proximity of where Somer lived. One person arrested, was arrested on numerous child possession, the other was arrested on only a couple of child charges, from both of their computer/s. The first was also charged with content he had in his possession, of a minor child that he was touching and posing inappropriately to produce child material. Can we assume for this, his bond went from a million dollars to "no Bond"? The second person was released on a $20,000 bond, with conditions of his release? I think we can ascertain from this, the reason being the content of child in his possession was not as much.
The first person still remains, from what we have been told by L.E. a POI to date. This could mean they are still questioning him in regard to Somer's case.

JH was charged with Lewd/Lascivious behavior with a minor; in addition to producing, he also was touching/molesting the child - making sure her sexual parts were exposed. That might be why he didn't get any bail! JH is touching a baby in his pics - how does LE let someone like that out on bond?

The escalation in behavior is significant! From looking - to handling and hands on posing - his desires are becoming more significant. Who knows what point he had reached when finally put behind bars. MOO
