I listened to the presser in its entirety....I did NOT hear that Somer was seen alone in the yard of the vacant house.

The reason the woman gave for processing the vacant house (1080 Gano) as a crime scene is because the one consistent piece of info they keep getting from people in the area, including children, is that is THE location Somer was last seen or can be accounted for by anyone....

Thanks everyone. I'm just trying to put a few of these pieces together in my mind.

The other children -- the children she ran ahead of-- would also have to eventually walk past the house. But they didn't report seeing her there - so she had to have been taken\subdued very quickly. But if everything happened quickly, how would there be time for anyone to witness her at the house?

IMO

Body has been positively identified through

Will not discuss cause of death

Last seen @ 1080 Gano Ave. currently vacant due to house fire...Forensics Mobile unit is currently at 1080 Gano.

Is that a male and female? Just remembering what Tuba said

Maybe one reason is if the property had been being worked on due to the fire maybe there was a dumpster outside of the home. :waitasec:

That's a good thought - also NMK above mentioned they may have found soot in her lungs. Finding her body as quick a they did is a blessing...they will catch this dangerous pedophile.

They said that she seen in front of that house, but was not seen with anyone.

This pedophile is quick as so many are. I doubt anyone witnessed Somer at the house. I bet the trash around her indicated houses close by or her autopsy gave clues. Also, this house may not be the crime scene. Was it the kids who reported seeing her there?

So HLN just reported that Somer was actually seen last at a burned out house. LE has received permission from the owner to process the home.

I found a link on webshots when I searched "Gano Ave. fire". It has images from the fire.

Date of the fire was 7-5-2009. Don't know if it's the same place.

Most abductors are very opportunistic. It would not surprise me for him or her to have been able to grab Somer and her siblings not see a single clue a matter of minutes or seconds later. The houses in that area seem to be close to the road, so if he did drag her into or behind the house, it could have been done in a matter of 20 seconds.

Soot in her lungs or on her clothes or skin would definitely be a huge flag since this house was burned. As for working quickly - abandoned houses still have places to hide and not be seen - as for not being heard it doesn't take much to keep a small child quiet. I'm wondering if when the others were looking for her - did they go there? Did they go inside? Could she have been in there, being held with the monster waiting for a chance to leave with her? Obviously that chance never came and she was thrown in the dumpster...

that really hurt to type

I tell my kids, "If anyone ever hurts you or snatches you and they tell you if you scream or tell they will kill you, kill mommy,or kill daddy; you better scream as loud as you can because they will probably kill you anyway!"
I know that sounds cruel and I know it terrifies them but I want them to be terrified of people who will hurt them. I've told them all, "fight, kick, scream, throw up on em, wet your pants and never ever stop fighting!" I know it sounds drastic but the truth is...if you are a child and you are snatched, your abductor is most likely not going to let you live so I say fight for your life and as soon as you have an opportunity, run to the nearest most populated area screaming "Help! He's not my Dad!" or Help!" She's not my Mom!"

I pretty much tell my teens the same thing. In addition, I make them aware of the following pointers provided by Clint Van Zandt on how to escape a predator: (scroll down half way through article)

The trucks say St Louis FD, so I doubt it.

If you look up the vacant house on Google Street View you'll see that there is a policeman stationed as what looks to be a crossing guard right there at Gano and Grove Park.

1080Gano.jpg

I'm relying only on Google, which can be pretty iffy at times but I checked the address of the Pentacostal Church beside it and it looks like this is it. See the bus in the extreme left of this photo? That's Miller, and the only thing blocking your view of the school is the church.

OMG my head is spinning.

Dental records?!! WTF did he do to her beautiful face???!!

And what's up with those reporters? Didn't anyone notice the buzz of police activity at 1080 Gano? Sheesh.

This hurts me to type. I don't think the offender ever intended to leave with her. Most of the true stranger pedos don't intend to take the kid home and keep them. Most of their victims end up on roadsides or dumpsters, or otherwise dead. She could have been in the dumpster even before her mother flagged down the cop.
The expected life span of a child taken by a true stranger for sexual purposes is 2-3 hours from the time of the abduction. That's the high end.
