I just hope it's a promise he intends to keep.
Several of his promises have already been broken. In a big way.
So, I don't see much hope for this one. Unless John Walsh stays on him in a public manner to make him see if he does not keep the promise, the media will know about it.

Anyway, I could go on and on about Obama...but that would need to be done in the political forum.

Maybe we all need to rally together for this and maybe demand government funding in areas that are so vital and necessary. Get onto our local members of govt. to take it to Washington! Good grief, they can certainly squander tax payers money on useless things, then why not for something as important as this!

Funds appropriated for worthy causes like that usually end up being "mismanaged", anyway.

I would hate to see money set aside for helping victims of sex crimes, or for enforcing laws created specifically for sex offenders, used for extra comfy chairs or expensive coffee makers, or color-sprinkled donuts in the mornings.

Somer Thompson's mother Deina says her heart remains broken, but she's working to make life better. "By god, I can't change the past, so all I can do is try to live the present and change the future," said Thompson.

Since it’s in PDF I typed this part out…word for word from Noways link above:

The purpose of the non-profit corporation is to provide grants to individuals and/or families who have experienced violent trauma to a family member similar to the Somer Thompson case. To operate exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or corresponding section of any future tax code and generally to engage in any other lawful endeavor or activity in furtherance of any of the foregoing purposes.

That is just wonderful. The wording is broad enough that it will allow many, many victims and their families to be helped.

Bless you, Diena.

I was thinking more along the lines of govt. giving funding to L.E. depts. so they can deal with these issues in a better way, and something they would have to be accountable for, as in what improvements each dept. has made in this regard, and to their individual states police depts. I am not sure who would distribute the funding and for what, maybe the chiefs of police in that, in accordance with their task forces?

LOL ... I didn't find it ... but I found someone who found someone who found it.

Which works too.

Yes, and I guess it answers our question as to how envolved DT will be in the foundation...she's the president.

I hope this foundation does tons of good work. All in Somer's precious name.

That is really wonderful, and it would be nice to see Deina hand the first cheque from this foundation to the first recipient.

As a foundation, I do not think all the money they collect has to go to charity, only a portion.

I read that in one of the millions of things I've read about foundations over the past 6 months, so consider it hallucination until I can find it again.

I guess the IRS database was not as updated as Mr. Ludlow thought. I called on March 15 I think ... it should have been in the system.

I think if it's non profit, all the money except operating expense has to go to charity right?

This is my personal fav site about charities. Explains how they work, and lists them, and gives info about them.

Found what I was thinking about ... comment about being rare:

"If an individual is looking at a lot of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 it is a concern to the people around them and to the individual," Abel said that is because it is still illegal and could be signs of mental health issues.
He stresses that people who look at child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 can be cured with treatment. He also warns that murders like Somer Thompson's are exceedingly rare, so people should not treat that as the default case.

Thank you Mrs. Linky Link...lol
I knew you would not stop til you found it.

I wonder how rare molestation by someone who looks at a lot of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 is?

We know he's touched at least one other child.

And I agree he killed Somer to shut her up.

I don't think so. I thought it meant that 10 percent had to go to charity but that's what I'm trying to find.

I'm looking at BeanE's charity link (which btw, cannot find the Somer Thompson Foundation). However, that does not mean anything:

What does it mean that the charity I'm looking for isn't listed on your site?
It simply means that our program team hasn't been able to analyze them yet. Despite the fact that we evaluate, for free, ten times more organizations than anyone else in America has ever attempted, many deserving (and not deserving) ones exist that we haven't gotten to yet. You may know that there are now approximately 1 million charities in this country. We evaluate a lot of them, but there are many still to do.

I'm going to assume the word "cured" is the reporter's word, rather than Dr. Abel's. I can't remember last time I saw/heard a mental health professional use the word "cured".

I think JH murdered Somer to keep her from telling on him ... not that his obsession with child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 escalated to the point of murder.I don't have the link, but someone posted, and it was discussed, that it was very rare for someone with the child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 obsession to kill. That is paraphrased.

BBM: I totally agree Noway.
