FWIW,, Ripley, the woman gives me the same vibes, but I'm reluctant to attribute her behavior to guilt in Somer's death. As for the lack of tears, sometimes the knowledge that you are being watched and expected to cry will cause a person to do just the opposite. I've experienced that myself after the death of loved ones. It's a self-conscious response. I also agree with Chicana's post about antidepressants. They suppress empathic responses, thus the dry cry. IMO, it's quite possible that medication is responsible for much of the seemingly unusual or detached attitude we've observed, right down to the inappropriate "smirk".
I sure hope you are right. I'm Bi-Polar and now taking the correct med for my body. Previously, I was on a different med, and I told my Dr., and anyone else who would listen, that this med made me worse! I actually ranted aloud, this med makes me such a zombie, that even if one of my own children died, I wouldn't be able to cry!!! and that's just plain WRONG. Problem solved now.
So, fill me in or lead to a thread or posts that reveals Somer's Mom is on meds. I'm guessing this has been sleuthed out as it is being talked about so much. Or is this pure speculation? Thanks.
PS-are you admitting you've detected a slight smirk on her face too???? Not that I need another to agree with me, but, it's always nice.....
