Part of his sentencing was he had to pay for counseling for his victim, no contact with victim or unsupervised contact with children - I might be wrong but I don't think they normally do that for a 19 and 16 yr old having a relationship.

Plus he had no prison time. Isn't this where he had to register as a sex offender? Seems this guy has people all around who minimize everything he does. I want to know why his 2002 charges were dropped with no explanation. Do you think he knows somebody?

ITA busy.....and I dont know where it came up that this was a statutory rape charge as I do not see that on his offense description as I do on those who really do have a statuatory rape charge.....just sayin

Kind of O/T but not really....

I'm going to say this and then duck. I totally agree that there should be different categories for sex offenders.
I'm sure many here have seen the show Dateline NBC: To Catch A Predator.
Well, IMHO, there was a major difference between the 19 year old that came to "visit" a 15 year old, and a 63 year old that came to "visit" a 12 year old, KWIM?

I don't know how they could separate the classifications, but I feel it should be done as well....

Was that in the same county or somewhere else? TIA.

Yea, I'm still stuck on CWG. I really want to know why he was there and listed on that police report...

Yup, me to. And he left if I remember correctly.

  • #446
He was also ordered to undergo pyschosexual counseling - not totally sure what that involves tried googling it and got everything from masectomy patients to 🤬🤬🤬🤬 sites.

Gosh I had that written down and now I can't find it. It was in Florida. I'll try to find it. He did not enter a plea and the charges were dismissed with no explanation.

Also he comes up as a red square for those who have commited a sexual offense against a child, yet those who have a statuatory rape charge have a green square for "other offense".......jmooc

Most of the 16 year old/19 year old cases that end up with the guy as a RSO involve forcible acts. So IMO most of them should be categorized as a SO just as much as a rapist should be.

BUT, I think there should be a separate registry of child predators. Registered Child Molesters. As a woman I check the RSO lists because to me, having a convicted, violent rapist on my block is something I want to know about - but I can imagine parents are more concerned about child predators.

I totally agree with you! I've gone through the registry and every person you have to look at all of the different categories. They should separate them according to 'child under whatever age,' 'predators,' and then 'violent' and IF the person fits under multiple categories, then he's listed under ALL!

This is an excellent tool for citizens to use. They just need to refine it.

Does that mean no unsupervised contact with children forever?
http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/topstories/news-article.aspx?storyid=147122&catid=3 on page 4 is a comment by dawn4one, says this guy is her parents neighbor and she has seen kids going in and out of his house. She says she has told her own children to stay away from him.

JUST realized today if you click on the vehicles & vessels icon it shows a list of all autos registered to each RSO and even the license plate #s!!!! THAT is a great tool, even able to track them cruising the neighbourhood by their vehicles!!

UGH! You just had to remind me of that, didn't ya? :banghead::banghead:

Sorry!

It really bugs me that he just happenedto be there. Not to mention that he lied about where he works and then he disappeared?

I think we all need to be pro-active with our own children, and also of children in our neighborhoods and our communities, no matter where we live.

Being pro - active means being aware, informed and vigilant. Team up with other parents of children that your child goes to school with, and if you are able, be the one to be an after school monitor for children whose parents have to work, or if you have to work, seek out the parents who are home on a daily basis. Form those alliances and be there for these children. Teachers are the best resource to aid in connecting with other parents.

It all needs to start at home.

nursie - I'm thinking that two months ago school wasn't in session yet. Any locals here remember when school started up there? If he was working there and school was still out - he knew that school was there and that is was only a matter of time when school started up again - he had the place, just had to wait for the right time.

I got struck by the "two months ago" statement. I know that he has been cleared by LE, but it never said how long he was working there. He could have easily been there after school started and talked to the kids as a group in the past. I wonder if they have shown Somers sister his picture? Probably no longer an issue, but I would like to know if he approched the kids in the past.

I'm in favor of a lot of things for SO's. A remote island? Branding? Castration? But another thing that sticks in my mind is something I heard recently (please don't ask me for a link, I couldn't produce one if I had to), that a huge percentage of these monsters, who kill children, have never been arrested before. Which makes me wonder what the he!! LE can do to cast the net further. Horrific to think that with as many RSOs as are out there, that there's a much larger number, apparently, looking for their first victim.

LE has shown us what doesn't work to protect society from SO. There HAS to be legislation that will keep these people AWAY from society. I would love to say, "Let's brand them", but I don't see that as an idea that would ever pass into law and it could also be disguised until it is too late to see it, (hair, makeup, darkness etc.). Solution in my mind, one strike you're out!

God bless Somer and her family! I hope they find this monster fast and throw away the key when they lock him up!!

There are a couple of "happenstances" within this case that can really get us buggin out if we let them....

Depends on whether it's group or individual. individual he would see a counselor and talk about all of his urges and sexual desires. When they started, who they featured, when he did notice the difference between boys and girls, what does he label himself.
Group counseling, pretty much the same. Except its a group setting, so they can all share in the other's lovely ideas and add other people's crimes and fantasies into their mental catalogue. Whoever came up with that one was not thinking very clearly.

Great ideas fran - the problem is that every state has its own criteria and wording. Nationalizing a uniform directory of offenders would be so helpful to everyone.
