OMG, I finally got here! Have been trying since yesterday.
Please let me say what's been burning inside of me-I couldn't post!
1)On the first thread, I think it was, Shutterfly posted an excellent image from Google Earth of the area Somer would have passed on her way home. There were several comments as to how the high privacy fences would have precluded anyone from seeing her, but I never saw anyone comment on how it would ALSO have prevented anyone from seeing what went on inside the yard! All someone had to do was get her behind the boards and make sure she couldn't scream.
2) Somer had already had a really bad day at school, if the fussing and fighting are true.
I can so easily see her wanting to hide and I can almost hear what she was thinking: "I'll show THEM!" "They'll be sorry!" "I just won't go home!"
And who of us hasn't said that/thought that, even as an adult?

Hi Cheryl,

Welcome to WS!!!

Bolded By Me: I agree with what you are saying. I posted earlier about Somer being more vulnerable due to the argument she was in. But really your bolded comment above fits what I was trying to convey but didn't!! I never thought of the I just won't go home part though!

Would someone ~ ANYONE ~ hear a child scream if she was say 500 - 600 yards from a school with 100's of kids being dismissed for the day????

(I'm guessing 100's of kids, how many kids do you think were in the area at that time??? I don't know if the school website would say the exact number of kids that attend it?!?!?)

It's REALLY hard to imagine NO WITNESSES.
I'd imagine there would be several children screaming, laughing, talking, etc. ~ they're sure not walking that distance in silence. Along with traffic and other noises, people probably wouldn't pay much attention. But if she were grabbed off the street, I'd think someone would see her getting into a car, or with the perp. Another thing that I've been thinking about is Somer getting upset with her sister when the fight was brought up on the walk home, running ahead of the group, etc ~ so maybe she didn't want to go directly home and encounter her sister again? Maybe she detoured on her own over to the park or another house? :waitasec: MOO

I think he lives there.....right there where he can see 1080 Gano from his own yard.....every single day
I think he was also across the street at the memorial tree the night Somer's mom said she wished she could hug every one of them. I can only imagine how that fueled his Gingerbread Man ego.

Actually, I think you might be onto something. In one of the earlier news reports I watched this evening - A reporter said that same exact thing. That her brother or someone in the group reported last seeing her closer to home and was it possible that she recircled the neighborhood?
Just trying to help sort out facts, can't always rely on the media either.

Hey cam, try calling Justice Coalition (on San Juan Avenue); they're the ones arranging the fundraiser. Ask for Ann or anyone in her office.
Thanks for this info...I called the number listed on line, and well, it is not there normal business hours.....they give a phone number if you need to contact someone now, I called it, and it does not work....oh well....

Welcome! :seeya: This is what I've been thinking of too. She just ran off from her sister so going directly home, she'd be facing her sister again. Maybe she wanted to go hang out somewhere for a while and that's where the perp found her? MOO

Respectfully, which accusations against who? I agree there were some terrible things going on earlier, I think the reason the thread was pulled. But since then all we have been doing is running down theories but not with any person in mind except the perp with no person being named.

Now that you mention it, I remember some early report saying she was very close to home, then it changed to last being seen by the vacant house. Now I'm wondering too if both versions are right. MOO

Welcome, Cheryl! And you bring up a good point. Maybe she didn't just go somewhere else to avoid her sister/brother. But maybe her sister/brother had told her they were going to tell the mother, that she'd be in big trouble, etc, etc. Maybe she went somewhere else to avoid getting in trouble at home. The fight at school may also have been in response to something else said/done to her, so in her mind it would also be unfair that she was getting into so much trouble for it.

Just a thought.

I wonder if that is possible? She was seen close to home by her walking group. But I think they have reported neighbors and witnesses put her in front of vacant house. If neighbors and witnesses put her in front of vacant house, didn't they see more? Makes you wonder if they do have their crime scene nailed down on that house so they are reporting it as witnesses last saw her 500 feet from that house. For instance, they were able to verify where her group last saw her, closer to home and then she ran ahead or around further.. I don't know, I am running myself in circles now and I guess I am just trying to get in the head of LE and how they are playing this.

Well, hi, Cheewawa! (Your post literally jumped up and startled me)! I read a lot from you last night, and feel like I know you a little bit. Hopefully, you'll get to know me, too.
*Smiling, here* It's nice. Thanks for the shout-out.

I keep thinking of the boy who saw her "running around the tanks". Maybe she hid behind them until her siblings passed by thinking she was in trouble because of the fight at school.

Here's a side view of the tanks:

Where would this person live to be able to see 1080 Gano? Directly across the street is the ball park, and the entrance to it is about a block long. Next door to the house being searched I saw two younger looking guys, kinda like punk rockers. This was to the right of that home if you are looking straight at it...I think there was a camper/small motor home of some sorts parked sideways in the front yard....

Exactly! Cop talks to little girl on bike from his Nissan, Diena flags down cop in neighborhood, Cop follows trash trucks through neighborhood to landfill in Ga when trash trucks from neighborhood don't even go directly to Ga landfill, they go to Rosehill.:waitasec:
My big question is...was this the same cop all three times?
I would say no. The sheriff mentioned the name of the detective who followed his hunch and suggested following the garbage trucks...seem to recall the name was like Det. Owens? I doubt the person from the Nissan is the same as the detective.

What's replaying in my mind right now is that last video of little Sandra Cantu, seen walking right past her own house. I think the same thing could've happened here with Somer getting close to home then changing her mind and detouring off in another direction or back through the property of the vacant house. And then her being spotted back by those tanks it almost seems like she might have been trying to hide. :waitasec: Just my guesses. MOO

I just thought of that too while replying to another post. I wish more details were released on that school fight, such as who started it and if it's possible Somer would've felt she'd be in trouble at home. MOO
