  • Florida's Purple Alert system helps find missing adults with specific mental or cognitive disabilities.
  • To qualify for a Purple Alert, the person must be in immediate danger and not eligible for a Silver Alert.

According to FDLE, 60-year-old Sonya Taylor was missing from the area of the 790 block of Ridge Road in Tallahassee.
Taylor was last seen traveling northbound in the area of Crawfordville Road and Munson Boulevard last Friday.

Tallahassee Police Department confirmed Tuesday morning that no foul play is suspected.


A Purple Alert is a statewide notification used to help locate missing adults who suffer from mental, cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities and whose disappearance poses a credible threat of harm. Unlike a Silver Alert — which is reserved for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia — a Purple Alert applies to adults whose impairments are not dementia‑related
