The Bay County Sheriff’s Office released more details regarding their discovery of human remains earlier this week.

Investigators said they believe the remains are of a middle-aged woman, or a little bit older.

The remains were found around 2 p.m. Monday in the woods in the 8000 block of Highway 77.

Investigators also found a shirt with the remains and are releasing a photo of what the shirt would have looked like new.

They hope is someone will recognize the shirt and could ultimately help authorities identify the woman.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. Brent Roberts at the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at 850-248-2319.

Anyone with information please call the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 747-4700.

“We’re going to conduct a full investigation to try to identify who this is and what circumstances led to their death,” Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford said. “We treat this like a homicide until we can prove otherwise or show otherwise.”

That shirt reminds me of the Bible camp teachers or a faith based school teacher.

Reminds me of just a Christian shirt that a middle aged or older lady would have worn in the ‘90s. JMO

Here's an ebay listing for a sweatshirt with the same design.

Vintage Morning Sun Count Your Blessings two by two Sweatshirt - Women’s L D8 | eBay

The brand is Morning Sun, and the seller does describe it as 1990s (though that doesn't necessarily help pin down the date since Jane Doe might have been wearing an old item of clothing).

Agreed, it could easily be a thrift store shirt from recent times or an indication that this is a UID from the 1990s. Hopefully investigators have more clues to help indicate how old the remains are.

AL - AL - Marsha Kaye Lyle, 41, Russell County, 05 May 2020

I submitted Marsha Kaye Lyle as a potential match to these remains. I thought of her when I saw the religious theme of the sweatshirt and the style of the head wrap found with the remains. Her family described Marsha as a very religious woman and said she enjoys shopping at Goodwill, both of which could explain the vintage looking Noah's Ark design on the shirt, imo. According to some of her photos and The Charley Project's clothing/jewelry description, she usually wears some sort of head wrap, wig, or scarf. Here's a timeline of her May 2020 disappearance and a link to Google Maps showing the various locations associated with her travels.

5 May - @ home - Seale, AL (Russell County)
6 May - gas station - Lake Pana, FL
7 May - Port LaBelle Inn - LaBelle, FL (one week reservation)
8 May - checked out of hotel
bought gas - Jasper, FL
Walgreens - Jacksonville, FL
21 May - car towed - Jacksonville, FL
*may have been trying to get to Clewiston or Orange Park, FL
**remains located Southport, FL

Maybe she knew someone in LaBelle, FL? I always think of the blueberry farm that offers u-pick. It’s way out there, very rural. There’s a lot of agriculture work in southwest FL. I wouldn’t think she’d be doing that. But perhaps she had family or friends that did? That would explain the 1 week visit. Except she checked out after 1 day. Hmmm.

I've always been curious about why she canceled the hotel reservation after staying only one day. :confused:It's possible Marsha knew someone or was working in LaBelle, but her family thinks she might have been confused and/or lost. They noted that LaBelle is only 30 minutes or so from Clewiston, where her mother lives.
