Sheriff Brad White reported a man walking the property with the intention of possibly buying it found the remains and called authorities. The remains were mostly bones and appeared to have been scattered by animals. There was a skull which will make identification by dental records possible.

Sheriff White and BPD chief Craig Cooper both said there are no current open missing persons investigations being worked by their departments.

The name of the owner of the property is at the link but I'm not going to post it here (A quick Google of her name shows she passed away in 2009): Badly decomposed body found off MLK bypass - Barnesville.com

Oh dear...could this be Jenna van Gelderen? 1 hour drive away from Atlanta. And if I'm correct there are a lot of missing person cases in Georgia, maybe not in Lamar County or Barnesville in particular, but all over Georgia, as the GBI should know.

It's almost a year later. No media updates about this remains as far as I could find. Not listed in Namus (yet?). Not listed on the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (yet?) although according to the above news article posted by Gardener 1850 they are involved, together with the Lamar County Sheriff's Office.

"A GBI crime scene investigator is currently in the woods off the MLK Bypass here collecting human remains found there Tuesday"

"Sheriff White and BPD (Barnesville Police Department?) chief Craig Cooper both said there are no current open missing persons investigations being worked by their departments"

They have only Ellen Morgan listed as missing from Lamar County (Barnesville). She went missing in 1984.
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

And according to Namus no unidentified persons, other than this one (if he/she is still not identified).

I wonder what's going on with this case. Still no Namus file, no file on the GBI website. Could this person be identified in the mean time?
