St. Johns County Fire and Rescue responded to a port-a-potty on fire at around 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning in St. Augustine, Florida. After extinguishing the flames, the firefighters found human remains inside the portable toilet.

Detectives believe the remains belong to a white woman and don't have more information at this time.

The incident occurred on the property of a home construction site, where neighbors say they heard a loud boom at 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

Some residents said they have seen an increasing number of strangers in the area over the past months.

An official with SJSO said it is possible that the victim was smoking in the portable toilet, which may have ignited fumes from the toilet.

There are large undeveloped areas of land around there. It is possible a homeless camp is in the woods. They tend to locate on empty property near services - gas stations, malls with public restrooms, etc.
