I agree.

Texans, however, had the foresight not to encourage people to look for a pretense- then "Stand their Ground". As a result, the Texas SYG says one cannot provoke the other individual, nor be in violation of any law. The end result is a better SYG law that more closely follows the olde common law concepts.

Thus both hot heads are warned in Texas, but so are would be "regulators", vigilantes or other pretense seekers.

An Uber driver killed a man threatening him in ‘classic stand-your-ground case,’ Fla. sheriff says

In a series of profanity-laced text messages, Jason Boek told his on-again, off-again girlfriend that he was watching her “every move” from outside a bar in central Florida, authorities said.

She told him it was over.

Then, authorities said, he threatened to hurt her and an Uber driver who he thought had picked her up.

"I see y’all,” Boek wrote, according to an image of the messages released by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. He added: “I’m going to [expletive] both of y’all up. Your a piece of [expletive]. I’m going to [expletive] beat the [expletive] out of Uber driver.”

An Uber driver said he feared for his life when a man tailgating him jumped out of a truck screaming, "You know I have a pistol? Want me to shoot you?”

Robert Westlake was not charged with a crime because Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said it was a “classic stand-your-ground case.”

Westlake said today is his 39th birthday but he is no mood to celebrate.

“Everyone tells you what you did was right, but you feel like, did I have to… after the fact? Someone comes at you like that you really don’t have much time to think,” Westlake said.
