Found Deceased FL - Stephanie Chitwood Hollingsworth, 50, Belle Isle, 25 Sept 2020

The family sent FOX 35 this statement:

"This has been a long, hard road for the family. They have beautiful hearts and are strong. Scott is a great dad and he has led a positive charge to find his wife. His children love and respect him. He is their rock. They saw the hundreds of searchers and thousands of people who came together praying to bring closure to the family. Without all of these people and the tireless efforts they put forth while stopping their lives to help this family in need, Scott would still be searching for his wife. He can now rest.

Scott motivated us to start FindSteph.com. It became a movement. He would like us to continue the efforts to bring forth conversations that address many of the subjects that surfaced during this search.
This was a mother who loved her family and was married to her soulmate. Together they raised 3 strong, well-rounded boys. They are all heartbroken today, just as they have been for 3 weeks. Today brought closure so that they can all now grieve."

I think Covid has lost another tragic life - I looked earlier for what kind of support you can get now if you were alcohol dependent in the UK (AA) and it seems to so complicated to join via Skype, not sure what its like in the USA but even as a reasonable tech savvy I think I would struggle. As I posted earlier if its confirmed its Stephanie my thoughts go to her husband, her boys and her friends and family - so bloody sad

Very sad. She was loved for sure. I hope they can get answers to their questions. Such as, why that road, on that day and what was going thru her mind. Blessings and peace to the family.

The location of the retention pond where the vehicle located appears to be within 8miles/20 mins from SH home so seems consistent with one running errands on Friday afternoon.

Weather report for Sept 25 indicates dry roads. I suppose this could be anything from falling asleep to the sun in her eyes. Glad the search is over and SM recovered.

And there are so many businesses along that road and subdivisions nearby with offices that you would think someone would have spotted something on surveillance cameras earlier in the search.

This ladies husband did everything to try find her. Website, social media, organised searches, did a press conference, tried to get satellite images, recruited drones and disclosed all the dirty laundry. I don’t think I’ve seen a husband so involved in a search, probably because most of the time they have something to hide! So sorry to all the family.

This is very sad. I knew Stephanie. Our sons played sports together when they were young. What's also sad is how social media has once again attacked innocent people, including her kids.
So sorry. We were rooting for her. So sad.

Agreed. That husband brought every thing to this search, unlike many others.

My heart breaks for the family & the boys. By all accounts Stephanie was a lovely, kind-hearted person. Such a terrible loss.

Sad ending. Did the GM SUV have auto doorlocks and power windows . Did the drivers window work? Did the airbag cause a issue getting out? Will the drivers door open? I see sequence - hit curb, maybe wake up, hit water -airbage deploys - maybe knocks her out or disorients her- as opposed to "seeing it coming-unbuckle, lower window or kick out-hold breath swim out. Prayers for family. IMO

Now to find out how this happened. Anyone local that knows what this area and retention pond is like?

Thankful that they brought in drones:
Unfortunately this is a problem with our waterways in Florida..,
Take a ramp or curb too fast, or get distracted, and it is easy to go into water...
As I mentioned in a prior post: I watched a FL car, a few months ago, drive in front of me, cut me off, drove down a bank, and landed on the side of a retention pond... I called 911, and fortunately she was fine...
Anther FL man was submerged, in his car for a long time, before he was discovered deceased, via a drone image...
FL had another mother, of four children, die in her car, that was submerged recently too...
Thankfully this beautiful and sweet mother and wife was found... Unfortunately it is under such tragic circumstances...
They sell an extra large flashlight; with cutters and a glass breaker to keep in your car:
After these numerous deaths I will put one in my car, and give them as gifts this year...
In Florida we have water everywhere; even in my neighborhood this could easily happen...
Such a heartbreaking and horrific accident...
My sincere condolences to her family, and friends, for this very very sad outcome...

My youngest (age 23) and I, were just talking last night about car windows. She has had her checked a few times and they keep telling her they're fine. But yet, she cannot always get them to go up/down. I told her to fix her brakes first and then at least get her driver's window fixed. Adulting is hard, expensive and scary some days.
