Found Deceased FL - Stephanie Chitwood Hollingsworth, 50, Belle Isle, 25 Sept 2020

What was she doing in that area?

She very likely was going for a drive. That road is fairly new. It's difficult to see what her route might have been. But I believe her car was spotted near Lake Nona High School. So it seems she looped around and was planning to head back toward home. She might have had a flat tire or she might have swerved to miss an animal or she might have passed out or had a medical issue.

My youngest (age 23) and I, were just talking last night about car windows. She has had her checked a few times and they keep telling her they're fine. But yet, she cannot always get them to go up/down. I told her to fix her brakes first and then at least get her driver's window fixed. Adulting is hard, expensive and scary some days.
I sympathize and empathize with you. :( Would it help to keep a center punch in her car just in case she ever needs to break a window?

MOO

As you and I know from living here, it is too hot in mid Oct in Florida to ride around with the windows down and without A/C.

Do we know if the vehicle's AC wasn't working?

Oh no. It makes me so sad that her family was there and, most likely, was able to spot her car on the drone images. It always breaks my heart when family or friends find their missing loved one deceased. So horrible.

Thats a good question... Could she have been looking at the new development being built up the road? Maybe she had a friend in one of the neighborhoods there and was driving by to see if she could stop by since she left her phone home.

Do we know which pond it was?

That is why I am purchasing “The Patriot Flashlight”; You can break glass, and cut through seatbelts, with this flashlight...
I am going to Velcro it to the center isle of my car: Living in Florida, after four years, this appears to be, unfortunately, a “routine” occurrence...

This doesn't sound good. My first thought was car accident/off the road/water. Further reading moves that down the list, along with leaving her phone behind.

I hope she returns safely. I think so many people are really struggling right now. We live in strange scary times, imo.

Kudos to MrsWatson

Whether good instincts , intuition , gut feeling , or lucky guess it appears your early post in this case was quite accurate (off the road / water)

Yes, that’s the plan. When she travels any distance, we trade vehicles. She rolls her eyes at me. LOL! I have a 2013 Honda Pilot with a sunroof. Not that her car (2006 Scion xB) is in that bad of shape. It’s really in great running order. I just can’t rest if I know she’s driving across the state, along all those canals, crossing bridges, hitting rain, etc with a flaky window. I guess it’s a Florida Mom thing.

I really was hoping for a happy ending here. How sad. RIP.

I haven't seen that the body in the vehicle has been identified yet. Seems to be taking longer than usual even with the circumstances being what they were. Maybe out of deference to the family but other than that a basic identification can usually be made within 24 hours via dental records etc..

I was looking for a better view of where the vehicle was found. It doesn't help me but may help those who are more familiar with area and asking which retention pond the car was found in.

This is the best video I have found so far and I'm still not totally certain which retention pond was involved. This video shows the tow truck backing though high weeds or a field. At this point, I'm leaning toward the pond actually on Story Time Drive, but I could be seriously wrong. JMOO

Also of note in the video, reporter says neighbors sent in photos of FD searching those ponds 9 days prior.

In this video, the lady states in a small pond on “Storey Park Blvd near Innovation Middle School.” Maybe the one by the track that is on a curve.

A number of neighbors tell me they didn’t see or hear anything unusual in the days and weeks before Hollingsworth’s truck was found in this pond Saturday. The pond sits in front of a busy trail along Dowden Road, with bicyclists and joggers coming past regularly

This is the pond where Stephanie Hollingsworth’s missing truck was found Saturday. The Belle Isle mom has been missing since Sept. 25. Inside the truck, investigators found a body but police have not made an identification yet.

From News13 tweets, it seems this pond is located in a heavily traveled area of Dowden Rd (near the 417) -- not a quiet self-harm location IMO. I truly think this was accidental and sorry for SH's struggle with addiction.

This is very sad. I knew Stephanie. Our sons played sports together when they were young. What's also sad is how social media has once again attacked innocent people, including her kids.
I am so sorry to hear about this. Honestly, I loathe social media 90% of the time. Condolences to you & all who knew Stephanie. Peace to her family.
