When Steven Cozzi would sit down for dinner with his husband, Michael Montgomery, he liked to tell stories about his job as an attorney.

Some of those stories centered around plastic surgeon Tomasz Kosowski, a man whom Cozzi referred to as the “crazy doctor.” Kosowski was suing a plastic surgery practice, and Cozzi was representing some of the defendants in the case.

But after a particularly contentious deposition in January, where Kosowski followed Cozzi into the bathroom during a break and called him a “🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬,” Montgomery began to worry for his husband’s safety. Montgomery fixed the security camera on their home and encouraged his husband to carry pepper spray, as well as hire outside security the next time that Cozzi and his boss, Jake Blanchard, met with Kosowski.

“I just had a bad feeling that this was escalating,” Montgomery said from the witness stand of a Pinellas courtroom Tuesday.

Montgomery was one of four witnesses called by prosecutors Tuesday during a hearing to determine whether Kosowski, who was accused in Cozzi’s death after the attorney went missing in March, should receive bond. The judge denied the defense’s motion to set a bond for Kosowski, meaning he will remain in the Pinellas County Jail while he awaits trial.

Judge denies bond for plastic surgeon accused of murdering Largo lawyer

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The plastic surgeon who was accused of murdering Largo attorney Steven Cozzi will not be released from jail until his trial is finished, according to a new ruling.
[...]
During the hearing, attorney Jake Blanchard, Cozzi’s boss, said he and his family were terrified Blanchard would be a target if Kosowski were given bond.
[...]
The judge told Kosowski that if he wanted a quick trial, he would accommodate.

What does BRING mean under pre trial scheduled for 10/5/23?
BRING, listed on the court docket, means to bring the defendant from jail to court.

BRING
I recall an earlier court document filed by Kosowski's attorney that said something like 'defendant waives pre-trial court appearances'.

I guess the judge can force Kosowski to be in the courtroom?!
Apparently, defendant was in court today.

Florida doctor to be held without bond in murder trial

Posted at 6:35 PM, July 11, 2023 and last updated 6:38 PM, July 11, 2023

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (Scripps News Tampa) — Dr. Tomasz Kosowski walked into court dressed in orange, holding papers, and with little expression on his face Tuesday morning.
[...]
Kosowski sat silently for nearly six hours while several witnesses took the stand, including Jacob Pillsbury. He’s one of the lawyers who worked with Steven Cozzi on the medical billing lawsuit against Kosowski. According to the prosecution, that lawsuit is what led to Kosowski allegedly killing Cozzi.

During his time on the stand, Pillsbury looked at Kosowski and told the judge that he’s terrified of the doctor, and he doesn’t want him to get bond.

“There’s no reason not to believe that he wouldn’t come after me or my clients,” he said. “My clients are freaking out. Of course I’m afraid.”

Pinellas Co. doctor to be held without bond in murder trial

Court documents showed Kosowski attacked Cozzi at his law office, then signed on to a video court hearing that Cozzi never showed up to. Prosecutors believe he was already dead. They believe after the hearing, he drove down to the Everglades and dumped Cozzi’s body.

Local plastic surgeon accused of killing Largo attorney denied bond

Published July 11, 2023 8:17PM
[...]
Jake Pillsbury, who represents another defendant in that same civil case that Cozzi was a part of, testified that he, too, would be scared for his life and his client’s if Kosowski was released. Pillsbury said Kosowski tried to have Cozzi removed from the case and was always very aggressive.

"Of course, I would be afraid," Pillsbury said. I would absolutely be in danger if you let him out. One hundred percent," Pillsbury said.

Pillsbury said he doesn’t know why Kosowski didn’t target him instead. He said Cozzi was much nicer to Kosowski than he was.
[...]
The judge said if the allegations against Kosowski are true, he’s a danger to anyone who gets in his way and that anyone involved in this case or the civil case Cozzi was working on could be in "mortal danger."
[...]
Kosowski looked in Cozzi’s family’s direction shortly after sitting down and paid close attention in court. Kosowski has pleaded not guilty.

Has anyone seen any mention of a psych evaluation? Making sure I didn’t miss it.

I strongly suspect if they were to give Kosowski bond he would first, go after whomever he was mad at, and try to kill them. I don't blame them for being crazy scared for themselves and their families. Second, I suspect he'd commit suicide either by a police shootout or at his own hand. Very glad to hear he isn't getting out, hopefully never.

On this Florida Department of Health page listing actions taken against practitioners, TRK is listed once (case 202222400) for consistent failure to pay a yearly $250 fee to the Florida Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Association. This fee is required from every doctor in the state, with certain exceptions that TRK does not qualify for. He failed to pay from 2017 to 2021. He was sued (I think?) in early 2022 and didn't respond. The final action, i.e., some kind of suspension/revocation of license, fines, or probation, was authorized after his arrest.

From the article posted by @imstilla.grandma: Judge Bulone

"If the allegations here are correct, then anyone involved in that civil case or anyone involved in this case could be in mortal danger,” Bulone said.

And, when they arrested him on March 25, he was back in Tarpon Springs with all those items still in his car.

I don’t think this has been mentioned, but TK sold his Tarpon Springs home 5/31/23. That is a month and two days after being arrested. The only way to close that fast in Florida right now is to have some serious connections or make a cash purchase. He sold the house at a $50k loss from what he paid, when most property values have doubled to tripled. He sold it for a little more than half of what Zillow estimates.
TK also sold his New Hampshire home in mid-April, to the same person.

And the buyer, is his new attorney who just filed a notice of appearance yesterday….

He needs fast cash for legal fees is my guess.

Sorry I edited after you posted. His new lawyer bought both. Apparently a murder defense is pretty expensive.

Having slept on it, there are so many red flags!!
Especially considering it was sold so far below market value.

Excellent sleuthing!
I thought that name was familiar so went to have a look at the earlier documents. The latest notice of Appearance listed for DT is an ammended notice. The first one was filed on 5/26.
