Good to see fresh coverage of Steven's case. Not much new, aside from this bit which I don't recall seeing before:

It's been almost a year since Steven MacKrell, a 25-year-old professional poker dealer, left a downtown Fort Lauderdale bar and then stopped in a Pompano Beach gas station for snacks.

He has not been seen or heard from since.

"We're going crazy trying to figure this out. We need people to step forward with information about what happened to Steven," said his mother, Astrid MacKrell.

She's planning a prayer service for July 30, on the one-year anniversary of her son's disappearance, hoping to once again bring attention to a case that has grown cold.

Reward grows; 'Please, say something,' mom pleads for son missing since 2015

The Family of Stephen MacKrell, 25, have increased the reward to $10,000 for any information that leads police to the 25-year-old Fort Lauderdale man who vanished on July 30, 2015.

MacKrell’s daughter, just months old when he went missing, is now two, and often points to the pictures of her father on the wall at her grandmother’s house.

Details of Disappearance​

MacKrell was last seen in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on July 30, 2015. He left Lucky’s Tavern at 1:30 a.m., got into his car on west Las Olas Boulevard, and drove north on northwest Seventh Avenue. He was supposed to meet friends and then go out afterwards, but he never arrived there.

MacKrell was last seen buying snacks at a Valero gas station in the 3600 block of north Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach, Florida at 2:32 a.m. Outside the station he had an altercation with an unidentified African-American man who was a passenger in a silver sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Cavalier or Malibu. That car was seen following him as MacKrell drove away.

He has never been heard from again. His car, a white four-door 2013 Ford Fusion with a missing rim on the front driver's side and the license plate number WJ70L, is also missing. He had had about five drinks at Lucky's Tavern and may have been intoxicated at the time of his disappearance.

At the time of his disappearance, MacKrell worked as a professional casino poker dealer. He has never been away from the South Florida area. Since he went missing, his phone hasn't been turned on and his debit card has not been used. MacKrell left behind a baby daughter. Foul play is possible in his case, which remains unsolved.

I think about this case all the time. Did they not find the guys that followed him? This feels like a car that was repainted or sunk with him inside. The fact that neither he, his car, wallet, shoe,nothing was ever found feels more like a gang hit. No phone pings? I can't believe there is no more evidence than 2 pages of a thread....

Florida Man’s Skeletal Remains Found in a Pond 10 Years After He Went Missing

The skeletal remains of Florida man Steven MacKrell were found 10 years after he went missing on July 30, 2015. His remains and vehicle were found on Oct. 2 in a Boca Raton pond near Interstate 95.

I think about this case all the time. Did they not find the guys that followed him? This feels like a car that was repainted or sunk with him inside. The fact that neither he, his car, wallet, shoe,nothing was ever found feels more like a gang hit. No phone pings? I can't believe there is no more evidence than 2 pages of a thread....

My guess would be the influence of alcohol, an increase in anger from the altercation, along with the darkness, dulled senses, all that combined meant he drove fast & erratically, lost control and landed in the pond.

The altercation was likely just words, not physical.

Florida is not known for barriers or lighting around ponds, small or large. Embankments are sloped so it’s a slow roll into the water, unless you’re traveling at a high rate of speed.

Glad to know they found him so his family can bring him home.
