Details of Disappearance
Humennys was employed as an exotic dancer at Roxie's in Lake County, Florida in 1997. She was last seen at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the Waffle House restaurant near Interstate 4 and U.S. Highway 27 in the Baseball City area Polk County, Florida on December 14, 1997.

According to witnesses at the eatery, Humennys departed alone driving her white Dodge Dynasty. She has never been seen again.

Her boyfriend told authorities that he became concerned about Humennys and proceeded to search for her when she failed to arrive at the residence they shared later in the morning. Humennys and her boyfriend lived on Laura Court in Davenport, Florida at the time.

Her boyfriend discovered her abandoned vehicle on the shoulder of County Road 54 in Loughman, Florida at approximately 7:30 a.m. the day Humennys vanished. That section of County Road 54 is located west of the Interstate 4 overpass. There was no sign of Humennys at the scene and her boyfriend alerted law enforcement.

Foul play is suspected in Humennys's disappearance, which remains unsolved.

Did they interview the wait staff, cook, etc to find out if the other patrons left shortly afterTonya? The roads couldn’t have been widely traveled at that hour. It wouldn’t have taken too long to catch up to her.

Did she speak to anyone beyond whomever waited on her? Maybe another patron overheard something. Is where her truck was found, someplace she could slip into the woods for a bathroom break?

According to this article, Tanya's boyfriend gave inconsistent statements:

"In 1997, Tanya HumennyjLewis lived with her boyfriend, Timothy Easterbrook, her daughters, Jessica, 4, and Tabitha, 6, and a male roommate. She was divorced and had no contact with her ex-husband.

She was working as an exotic dancer at Roxie's, a bar just past the county line in Lake County, struggling to support her children, detectives said.

On Dec. 14, she left work at 2:15 a.m. She went with some coworkers to the Waffle House restaurant near Interstate 4 and U.S. 27, and left about 3 a.m., according to Polk County Sheriff's Detective Louis Giampavolo. She told them she was going home. She was never seen again.

Easterbrook told sheriff's deputies that he went out searching for Lewis when she failed to come home. He said that about 7:30 a.m., he found her white Dodge Dynasty parked on County Road 54 with the doors locked.

That road would have been the only route Lewis could have taken from the Waffle House to get home, Giampavolo said.

That morning, Easterbrook took several people, including Lewis' children, his roommate and a neighbor, out to where the car was parked to show it to them, Giampavolo said. Then he used his own set of keys to drive it back to his house. It was there when deputies arrived; he called them about 9:30 a.m.

"He gave inconsistent statements," Giampavolo said. Because the case is still under investigation, he couldn't go into specifics."
