If someone disappeared on their own, its much easier to repair a reputation when they return if there hasn't been a ton of media coverage and physical posters spread around.

That's the conclusion I'm drawing from the whole thing. I could be wrong. There is plenty about this whole thing that seems off to me though.

Repairing a reputation is the least of our worries right now. We can't even wrap our minds around that because we are too focused on trying to just find Taylor safe first and foremost. You can't cross a bridge until you get there. Please do not speculate why we are doing what we are doing. It hurts when you assume why we are not talking to the media, why we are not putting up posters, or offering a reward. I guarantee you all of these things and then some have been considered, discussed, and a plan for such at a certain point put in place. I agree, there are many things that seem off to me as well.

Fleurde, if you don't feel that Taylor left on her own, what do you think has happened?

  • #803
She may not have wanted to pay what was ordered, but honestly it isn't like that was going to ruin her financially by any means. When you say others, it speculates plural. She was only ordered to pay her ex husband. Again, it wasn't enough in my eyes to cause someone to just up and jump ship. Was she not happy with it, sure, I think none of us would be happy with being ordered to do that.

maybe it was where the money came from ... could she maybe not have declared it nor paid taxes on it. to me this money is the MAIN issue here.

What other logical reason is there for everyone involved to not be canvassing the area with missing posters, calls from LE to the public for information? If someone could explain that reasoning, I would be glad to listen.

RSBM. I have been racking my brain trying to come up with reasons for it. One reason I can think of is that possibly police already have an idea what happened to Taylor. Possibly they already have a suspect and they don't want to scare the suspect off. They want the suspect to become comfortable with the belief they got away with it while LE quietly collects evidence and builds a case. But even if that is true, media coverage should not be a hindrance. Media can help build evidence by getting tips from the public. Police also sometimes use the media to their advantage by leaking false information. They may have done so in this case at the beginning when they said they did not suspect foul play. They practically said "no story here" and the press seems to have accepted it.

Another reason I can think of is that Taylor is perfectly fine and LE knows it but she is working undercover or put into witness protection. Perhaps publicity or contacting her loved ones would blow her cover. Seems far fetched that they would let her be reported missing to accomplish a cover story but that's all I can come up with. I don't put much stock in this theory but it's the only way I can see a happy ending at this point. :dunno:

^^^yes this.

This is a message board where we do our best to understand and if possible, help in finding clues for cases. I've commented up thread that there are members here who work solely on missing and/or unidentified. They have the resources available to help families know what steps to take to start the process of locating someone. Missing fliers are definitely one of those steps. If our VI is saying they are not placing fliers, that understandably is confusing to us.

We do have a TOS (terms of service) that we as members are required to abide by. If a moderator feels a comment does not adhere to the rules, then they and only they are authorized to step in and make an admonishment.

Having said that, I will repeat what I and many others have asked in the past.

What is it the family of TW hopes to gain by speaking on the forum and specifically to WS members?

What specifically can we do to help you?

What we do here is ask questions. Questions may sound invasive or inconsiderate but it's the way the collective minds of WS members work. Again, to the VI's, know that the moderators have things covered if members ask something or opine on something that is against TOS.

We're here to help if you want it. But we need to know what that help is that we can offer you.

I can see all your points being valid.

What I am puzzled by is if your scenario is correct, what is the purpose of the VI opining on the thread?

I'll join in with the :dunno:

This is my big reason for believing her initial disappearance was voluntary. That since she did not disclose this income, she likely didn't disclose it to the IRS and IMO she could've been thinking she'd be in huge trouble for that. So not only would she be paying the ex husband but also back taxes and fines and possibly having a criminal contempt charge for not disclosing it to begin with. I don't know exactly how it all works but these are just some of my thoughts. Lots of people do dramatic and sometimes illogical things when they are scared(in this case, scared of potential consequences).

What seems extra "fishy" to me is that so much money was put in a safe deposit box which suggests it may have been withdrawn from an account of hers. That TO ME suggests she may have been trying to hide the money for some reason. Again, just my thoughts/opinions.

If she isn't missing voluntarily I would be highly suspicious of the friend with the safe deposit box as I can't imagine TW had told very many people about the cash. It also sounds to me like TW could defend herself better than most women and many men especially given that she was usually armed and proficient with guns.

Regardless of any of the above opinions, I am worried for her and hope and pray she is safe somewhere. It seems to me she would've returned by now but i guess that could depend on what she's trying to accomplish, where she is and with whom, and what she knows about the search for her.

Fleurde, my heart goes out to you and I am hoping you get some answers soon.

Perhaps one or both VI's are out of the information loop with LE? Perhaps the VIs are posting here because of frustration at being asked not to talk to the media/put up flyers, etc. If they were asked not to say much about the case to others, posting about it here can be therapeutic. IDK.

some times it just feels better to talk to someone .....

Fleurde, if you don't feel that Taylor left on her own, what do you think has happened?

I think it is best for me to keep my own subjective opinion to myself. I wish I could say, but I don't know if it would be wise of me to.

She was awarded the money in "her column" in the marriage dissolution. Any taxes to be paid, my guess is that would have to be done for the 2017 tax year, which is filed in 2018.

I merely said I cannot speak on why here. What do we hope to gain by being in here? That someone can provide information on what can be done or ask questions about what has been looked into that we may not have considered. Those of us involved have never dealt with anything like this before. So this is to gain support/ideas, suggestions from those whom are more proficient in this area. That is what can be done do offer help.

But if that's the case then it wouldn't be considered income like they would use in calculations for child support. At least in TN and NC, money awarded from a divorce would not qualify as income and it would not go into any child support calculations. I know there was some sort of money for real estate expenses mentioned but wasn't the child support an issue too?

Was the cash something totally different from the unreported income AbuDrake referred to?

Im confused now.

We've asked so many questions, please don't hold back in asking us any that you have.
