Police searching for missing 51-year-old Winter Haven man | WFLA

Winter Haven police are currently searching for Todd Locke Johnson, 51, who was last seen in the Orlando area on Friday at a friend’s home. He left the area around 9:45 p.m. in his white 2019 Porsche 911 with a Florida license plate KYL139.

• About 11 p.m., his’s car was driving at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Hwy 27 and Cypress Gardens Blvd when a Polk Co deputy attempted to make a traffic stop.
• Police say the Porsche fled westbound on Cypress Gardens Blvd.
• The driver of the car is unclear.
• Johnson’s phone was left at his friend’s house in Orlando.
• He has not been heard from since he was in Orlando and is not considered endangered, however, his family is deeply concerned since this is highly unusual behavior.
• Johnson is a white male, 5'9" tall, approximately 200 lbs with gray wavy hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo of “Michelle” on the right side of his chest.

Very odd. This one gives the impression of being a carjacking, except for the fact that he left his phone at his friend's house. I wonder what his demeanor was upon leaving. Was he intoxicated? Was there an argument?

Missing Winter Haven man found dead in his Porsche in Lake Lee | WFLA
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office found Todd Locke Johnson’s overturned Porsche in Lake Lee near Waverly Road and Lake Lee Drive around 11 a.m. Tuesday. Polk County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and located Johnson dead inside the vehicle.

Rest in peace, Todd.

Maybe that wasn’t him driving the Porsche that night.
Something might have happened at his friends house that night and his friend didn’t want him to be found at his house. That could also be why his phone was forgotten.

So it wasn't him driving but his friend somehow overturned the vehicle with him inside and placed it in the water after speeding away from the cops? That's preposterous IMO.

This article states that the car became airborne and struck some trees before landing in the water and that speeding and impairment were factors in the crash. No way a third party could have pulled that off.

Missing Winter Haven Man Found In Car Floating In Waverly Lake
According to the preliminary investigation, detectives determined that Johnson was traveling eastbound on Waverly road at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate the curve. His Porsche continued east onto the grass shoulder, lost traction, and began to spin. At that time, it appears the vehicle crossed Lake Lee Drive and became airborne. The vehicle then struck small trees and bushes along the edge of the lake before coming to rest along the southeast corner of the lake upside down.
