FL - Tracey Nix, two of her grandchildren died in her care in separate incidents (7mo in hot car Nov '22 & 16mo drowned Dec '21)

Here's what I gathered while cooking with the tv on, making Thai Coconut Noodles Soup. :) It came great.

Please note that at the 18:25 mark in the show's video below they clarify that
it's a 3rd degree felony Tracey Nix will be sentenced on. In Florida, counts carry points. It depends on how many points are on the felony. Less than so many points means jail time only, and prison time can't be given.

Vinnie Politan's "Think Tank", which I watched twice while cooking, had the panel give how much time they thought Tracey would be given as a sentence. One said 24 mos. and one said 30 mos., and the woman on the panel I could make out the answer.

Two attorneys on the Think Tank panel stated that Tracey was not actually in charge of watching the first child. The way they explain it makes me really question why others don't subscribe to the fact that Tracey's husband was watching the little boy and husband left to go run errands. Tracey was sleeping before he left and after. How does that make her responsible for the boy's death?

The Judge didn't allow it into the recent trial because of that-- apparently, they couldn't pin the boy's death on Tracey. Not my opinion, but that's what her Defense Team said. So, I don't understand why everyone wants to blame her and make her solely responsible for the boy's death or why the daughter thinks that.

@Curious Me Thx for your post responding to mine :). Will review the links.

Like you said, conflicting in MSM reports.

Agree that something is strange! There are 2 different stories being told and someone is lying, just not sure who is the liar. On the one hand, the grandparents say they watch the child several times per week. On the other hand, the child's mother claims she takes the baby to work with her every day and was just trying to "trust" her mother again by letting her watch the baby.

Also, if it is true that TN was fired from her school principal job for forgetfulness, among other things, and she was on medications that could interfere with her memory, did the daughter know before she placed her child in her mother's care? I do not see how that is even possible.

THIS talk about the joint blame for grandfather and mother in death of Ezra is interesting and the reason apparently why no one was charged. Might explain why Ney sticks by his wife. What a conflicted and messed up family,.

Much better sound on this video, releases Jury, no sentencing discussion on this video.

Jury announces verdict in Tracey Nix manslaughter case

In the court room, the blonde lady sat at the laptop facing everyone, in front of the judge... what is the black thing she's holding to her mouth?
I don't think I've ever seen it before, does anyone know what/why that is?

If it's the same as in the recent Quinton Simon trial, it's a mask used for dictation.

I had never seen that before either! Apparently it is a stenomask:

“A stenomask is a hand-held microphone built into a padded, soundproof enclosure that fits over the speaker's mouth or nose and mouth. Some lightweight versions may be fitted with an elastic neck strap to hold them in place while freeing the user's hands for other tasks. The purpose of a stenomask is to allow a person to speak without being heard by other people, and to keep background noise away from the microphone.”

Ahh I struggled with search terms, thank you for this!

There’s something obviously very wrong with this grandmother, IMO. Is she a malicious narcissist sociopath who doesn’t really care about her grandchildren and can’t be bothered if they’re too much of a bother, or is she experiencing early onset dementia and/or has a substance use disorder?

I’m upset that she was found not guilty of the most serious charge, but can’t fault the jury given that the death of the first child was not allowed in.

I know they ruled out her medical history and medications she was on as being brought into evidence but can someone point me towards any articles where this was discussed? If she was prescribed medicine for dementia, you’d think that medicine would make someone more alert, not falling asleep for long periods of time.

And if she does have dementia or another condition why would they not say that? Is there a reason her medical conditions were not brought forth? Could someone else be charged then?
This is just all so bizarre.
It's not even clear who was babysitting though and what the circumstances were around that.

those medications are not for "dementia". Her out of it demeanor and lapses in memory etc. can be explained with all those meds and particularly if taken on same day and some designed for sleep being taken during the day. Frankly she is lucky she did not kill someone driving. There is a lot more that should have been brought into this courtroom and also family had to see that something was off with her and know about some of the medication use. Even if all prescribed together a recipe for disaster.

Frankly I don't understand this whole case. Experts testifying after jury is sent out to deliberate? And about some facts that could account for her behavior??? Why could that not be part of her defense? If one doc is writing all these scripts what is going on there? She had to be getting them legally I assume. And as a patient maybe she did not realize what they were doing to her judgement etc? Can anyone explain what I am missing?

The timeline from time of Ezra death Dec. 23 2021 to Uriel Nov. 21 2022 at 8 months old..born on March 5 2022.. the way I see that she was pregnant with Uriel at the time of death of Ezra. I read an article that she actually got in a car accident enroute to her mother's when getting the news of the death of Ezra but the baby was okay. I am not blaming the daughter but in the rush to have Tracey and Ney care for all of these grandchildren did anyone take some time to notice some serious changes in her behavior? Husband had to see it the most and notice all the meds?
