Steven Williams told detectives he shoved his ex-wife, Tricia Todd, during an argument, causing her death, then left her body along a dirt road, according to an arrest report obtained by The Palm Beach Post from the Martin County Clerk of Courts.
. . . He told police Monday evening that Todd “got in his face” about money issues, specifically a check that was mailed to the wrong person, the report says.
Williams shoved Todd and she hit her head on “something,” according to the report, and she was face-down on ground and her breathing was shallow.
Williams, “in a panic,” put Todd’s body into the back of Todd’s car and drove west on Bridge Road past Federal Highway, the report says. Williams could not recall exactly where he left Todd’s body and only said he left her along a dirt road with her iPhone and wallet, according to the report.

That sounds easy enough to find. Years ago, I would've thought this guy must just be plain old lying since nobody driving along the road had found a body.
However, since I've watched how these police searches have gone in the last couple of years, there may still be a really good chance that she is laying right out in plain sight and hasn't been found. After this length of time, they'll be looking for clothing more-so than a human form.

There also hasn't been any mention if this fella' was doing some drinking or some other recreational substance, and may simply not remember for sure where it was he dumped her out. Places always look a lot different while under the illumination of headlights than they do during daylight conditions.

I still have a feeling her cause of death and subsequent disposal wasn't quite as clean and simple as he's made it out to be in his confession.

You could knock me over with a feather! I'm dumb. Do they have to have Tricia's body before the charges can be first degree? Because I am totally seeing that he planned this murder including the conversation that he had with his mom stating he hated Tricia!

I thought the difference between first degree and second degree is premeditation. So he must be saying something like: they had a fight and he lost control. I don't believe that, at all.

I agree. No way do I believe that he pushed her and she just hit her head and died. I think he is reluctant for LE to find her body, because then the truth will be known.

In Florida, the SA cannot file a first degree murder charge without a grand jury indictment.

If there is strong enough evidence of premeditation, the state will present the case to the grand jury and his charge will be elevated to first degree murder if an indictment is returned.

Yes, he was seen purchasing a "couple' of gallons of gas. LE stated that they drained Tricia's gas tank to verify he had put that gas into her car.

How is this only second degree murder? LE can't possibly believe that he didn't plan this.

I believe in yesterday's press conference that Sheriff Snyder said in referring back to what Asst. State Attorney David Lustgarten said in that it's a matter of definition and that 1st degree murder must show absolute premeditatio. 2nd degree murder must show ill will, spite, hate & depraved mind. He then says, they have all the elements for a second degree murder charge and that it's the MCSO policy as well as a state attorneys office that very conservative, that they do not reach above what they think they have. Their philosophy is not to go higher with the idea that they'll negotiate later. And that they like to charge appropriately. The evidence they have all point to a very strong case of 2nd degree murder and that the elements of first degree murder are not there (and then he stresses) at this time.

I completely agree there's more to story or an altogether different story in the truth of what went down that night.
As far as him drinking or being under another type of influence I'm not so sure. Drinking, maybe. Anything else I doubt believing that him reporting back for active duty may warrant a mandatory or random drug test. SW IS VERY FAMILIAR WITH HOBE SOUND. He grew up here. You cannot get lost in this county if you tried. I promise you that? He knows exactly where he disposed of her remains. He's obviously an intelligent individual. He's an Air Force Staff Sgt.
In my own personal opinion he's holding out as a bargaining tool.

In Florida, only a grand jury can bring first degree murder charges. So give them a few months for the grand jury process and they will likely upgrade the charges.

"Williams then pleaded 'no contest' to her murder, officials say and will receive 35 years in prison."

So pleading no contest automatic 35 years? No trial?

He used the location of her body to get a lighter sentence...it's unfortunate but I'm sure this was done with the blessing of her family, who wanted her to be found more than anything. Who knows if MCSO ever would have located her on their own.

No contest? Wow, that was fast! Guess there won't be a grand jury and upgraded charges after all. Smart on his part, FL is a death penalty state. Anyone know if he will be eligible for parole?
