Police find 2 dead kids in Miami apartment, mother arrested

Police in Miami arrested a 41-year-old woman in the deaths of her two children, aged 3 and 5, after officers responded to repeated hang-up 911 calls from her apartment where they found their tied-up bodies.

“Come get them, I don't want them anymore," Odette Lysse Joassaint told officers who responded to the scene on Tuesday night, according to the arrest report. Police said she appeared to be irrational.

Jeffrey, 3-year-old boy murdered
Laura, 5-year-old girl murdered
....Joassaint had lost custody to the state of an older child. That child's father remained in Haiti.
....Odette broke down after DCF took her 14-year-old daughter.

....said the father was not living there at the time but said there had been at least four calls made to the address in the past year over domestic violence, trespassing and disturbance.

Police say they've responded previously for trespassing, several disturbances and domestic violence, but this is the first time there's been an incident involving children.

CBS4 has also reached out to DCF and we are waiting to see if they have had any involvement with this family.

According to cops, Joassaint made repeated calls to 911 beginning around 8 p.m. on Tuesday but hung up. Cops responded to the home on the 100 block of Northeast 75th Street.

Joassaint seemed to be hallucinating, cops said. Miami police spokesman Officer Michael Vega described her as appearing “irate or going through a crisis.”

The Florida Department of Children and Families reported to the Department of Family Services computer system that the children of Miami mother Odette Joassaint were fine and not in harm's way. In reality, the mother of two young children had allegedly already killed them in their home.
