Florida police on Saturday identified the four bodies as the child's mother, Megan Brown, 27; her parents Margaret and Greg Brown, both 52; and her boyfriend, Nicholas Leonard, 37, the Pasco County sheriff's office said, calling the information preliminary...

Margaret Brown was the former operator of the Hidden Hill Farm dog kennel in Heidelberg Township until a few months ago, when the family moved to a rental home in Hudson, Fla., about 45 miles north of Tampa.

A former Lehigh Valley man suspected of killing four people in Florida and dumping their bodies in a roadside ditch appeared in court Saturday following his arrest in a SWAT operation that rescued a 4-year-old boy holed up with him at a hotel.

A judge set bond at $200,000 for Adam Matos, 28, who lived in Orefield and is the only suspect in the case, according to authorities. He is currently jailed on charges of aggravated assault.

Why these charges?!

Why any bond at all?!

Why these charges?!

Why any bond at all?!

The assault charges are from an earlier incident, according to the earlier articles:

He appeared in a Hillsborough County court Saturday on a warrant out of Pasco County, where he was wanted on an aggravated assault charge. That stemmed from an incident on Aug. 28, when Megan Brown called police and said Matos had threatened her with a knife and then fled, said Nocco. She told investigators she was scared of Matos, but authorities could not find him.

Officially, he's still just a person of interest in the murders and hasn't been charged in relation to that. So the bond would be in relation to the assault.

But in an exclusive interview Tuesday with the Tampa Bay Times from the Pasco County jail, a despondent Matos said he's no murderer. He's a nice guy, actually. Easy to get along with. And he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Everybody's looking at me like I did it," he said. "All the fingers point to me, you know? So I'm not going to change anybody's beliefs"...

For most of the jail interview, he answered questions monosyllabically. The scruff on his cheeks lent to his deadpan look. He cracked a smirk only when he joked about wishing he had stayed at a more modern Hilton instead of the aged Floridan Palace Hotel in downtown Tampa where he was arrested, and when he used an expletive to describe what life has been like since his arrest.

Adam Matos, the only suspect in a grisly quadruple murder, floated a new theory during a jailhouse interview this week about who he thinks might be the culprit...

Matos told the Tampa Bay Times he didn't kill them. Instead, he pointed to a woman who knew Leonard. Matos did not name that woman, but he said she had stalked Megan Brown. But no one is backing Matos' story...

Tonya Carlson, who knew Brown, Leonard and Stinson, isn't buying Matos' story, either. She doesn't believe Stinson had the will or the ability to commit such a crime, saying Stinson is "only 110 pounds soaking wet."

Adam Matos was charged Monday with four counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his former girlfriend, Megan Brown, her parents and her new boyfriend, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said Monday...

Megan Brown, 27, died of a gunshot wound to the head and her father, Gregory Brown, 52, died of a gunshot wound to the torso, the report said. Brown’s mother, Margaret Brown, 52, whose head was covered with a bag, died of blunt-head trauma and asphyxiation. Brown’s boyfriend, Nicholas Leonard, 37, died of blunt-force trauma to the head.

Detectives say on Aug. 29, Matos went to Walmart and bought a shovel with Margaret Brown's debit card. A few days later they say he used the same debit card to have pizza delivered to the home. A pizza delivery worker remembers seeing Adam's 4-year-old son Tristan at the house with him and the worker also told detectives about a bad smell.

In the days after the murders investigators say Matos stayed busy even posting Craigslist ads to sell a half-dozen puppies bred by Margaret and Gregory. Buyers actually came to the house to pick up the dogs. 10 News spoke with one of the buyers by phone who says they too noticed a horrible smell at the house.

Investigators found numerous rifles, crossbows, and knives in a creek behind the Hudson house where they say Adam Matos murdered four people.

The items are listed in a newly released search warrant that details evidence found in and around the Hatteras Drive house where Matos, a recent transplant from Pennsylvania, was living with his girlfriend, their 4-year-old son and her parents...

During the time between the disappearance of the victims and Matos' capture, Matos sold electronic equipment from the house, according to the warrant, as well as the Browns' four dogs through Craigslist. Investigators believe a Samsung tablet found with Matos was used to sell the items and could provide evidence for his conviction.

The 4-year-old boy was in good spirits, if a little confused, when authorities found him in a Tampa hotel room with his father... Now, the young boy will likely have a new home.

"We're very pleased that Tristan is in a prospective adoptive home, and we expect that he will be adopted very soon," said Jeanne Tate, an adoption attorney in Tampa.

Tate said Thursday she could not comment further because of confidentiality issues.

Family: Deputies 'dropped ball' in Matos case
http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/r...ties-dropped-ball-in-matos-case?autoplay=true

In a document the Thomases obtained from the Sheriff’s Office, we see a statement from Aug. 28 after Megan’s first call for help. In what appears to be Megan’s own handwriting, she writes, Matos “put a knife to my throat” and said “I’ll ----ing kill you, I’ll ----ing kill you.”

“The responsibility for the murders definitely belongs to Adam Matos, but the prevention of those murders, the responsibility for that belongs with the Pasco County Sheriff's Department. We feel they dropped the ball,” Linda Thomas said.

A Pasco County judge declined to set a trial date for accused quadruple murderer Adam Matos on Thursday and criticized lawyers for moving slowly on depositions and lab work.

Circuit Judge William R. Webb said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's lab work is moving at a "glacial pace." "That is just unacceptable," Webb said. He asked prosecutors to subpoena the head of the lab to determine a cause for the delay...

Out of 320 witnesses listed in case filings, only 13 have been deposed, lawyers for both sides said Thursday.

It could be late May before a Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab can analyze all of the evidence in the death penalty case of Adam Matos, the Hudson man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and three others last September before authorities found him with his 4-year-old son in a Tampa hotel, prosecutors said Thursday.

During a pretrial hearing Thursday morning, Assistant State Attorney Mike Halkitis told Circuit Judge William Webb that FDLE lab workers have been working quickly, but there are “a number” of items to be analyzed “and at least two crime scenes.”

Webb, who complained of the crime lab’s “glacial pace” at a hearing last month, did not set a trial date Thursday.
