Yikes...will he testify again?

Done. Back on Monday.

  • #1,303
Why all the discussion about his attire on Monday? Why shouldn't he continue to wear a suit?

I know they usually do

I think maybe they want the jury to know he’s in jail? Wouldn’t they already know that.

I don’t know I was thinking it had something to do with the wording of life without parole. They want the jury to know that he won’t ever get out yet they don’t want the state to point out that anything can happen.

Edit- there must be a reason we aren’t seeing- attorneys are hoping for life of course so everything they do they have reasons. Wish we knew what they were

Sooo happy to see you back UT!! We were starting to get worried about you. Normal life 'does' still go on during these trials!

Monday starts the mitigation & penalty phases...maybe he helped someone get gas like Jeffrey Willis did...geesh, that was the lamest mitigator I think I had ever seen!

Hi BUF, thank you! It's great to be back! :happydance: *Looks like I'm late again though* :gaah:

@Jeffrey Willis....another one who took the stand--they were nothing alike *at least where emotions come into play* We all knew Jeffrey Willis lied through his teeth. Like him, Adam Matos also lied through his teeth but was the complete opposite as far as emotions go. He was like a zombie, no feelings nothing....it was like he really doesn't care, one way or the other what happens to him.

scmon, you mentioned AM looks like Scott Peterson--I reckon the resemblance is uncanny. :scared: Thanks heaps for the coverage today. I don't know why all the fuss about AM's attire. Turning up in a suit today *and Monday* when he really did/does not have to, is a sign of respect I believe. Respect for the Judge, the people, the court as a whole and for the victims families, is the way I'm looking at it. JMO

Anywho, I'll defs be here on Monday *may even set my alarm for 2am* lol. :thumb: :D

If there is one state that needs to reinstate public hangings it is Florida.

I am getting a little sick and tired of the abnormally high rate of murders, deviates, meth sellers, ad nauseum down here.

One more swamp that needs to be drained.

Matos needs to go bye bye.

Monday, November 20th:
*Penalty Phase begins @ 9:30am ET (Day 10) - FL - Megan Brown (37), her parents Margaret & Greg Brown (both 52) & her BF Nicholas Leonard (37) (Sept. 4, 2014) - Adam Matos (28) (father of Megan's child) charged with 4 counts of 1st degree murder; no bond. After 2 1/2 hours of deliberations jurors come back with a GUILTY on all 4 1st degree murder charges; Penalty phase starts 11/20, Monday

I'm going to bet the jurors will be back in about an hour and half with DEATH!!

:judge:

Starting...AM not in suit today, but jail clothing. Jury not in yet, attorneys going over stuff. Busy day today so I'll be in & out.

Jury brought in. Judge going over instructions. State will call ME & owner of Fishermans Shack. Defense will call AM family members. Judge wants penalty phase done by end of day.

I’m back from my appointment - actually job interview LOL. ME on the stand.

Edit- I’m probably going to switch between this and Sasha’s trial. I’m interested in the defense witnesses more than state.

Now we have a guy on the stand who texted with Megan- I️ didn’t catch his name (Jimmy?). He testified in the trial about these messages. They talk about Adam coming and pulling a knife on her and telling her he’s going to come back and finish her off. Witness called Megan and verified on the stand that the messages and the conversation they had matched.

Defense objecting on authenticity. Overruled.

The state now rests.

Defense calls Rose Matos. She is in the court room not by Skype.

She is a low talker. She is Adams mother. She looks horrified to be there. She is either nervous or ...not sure. She thinks he’s 32 years old.

Adams health problems: chronic asthma. Couldn’t play sports. Couldn’t run. Didn’t speak well. Hospitalized more than 10 times.

Family moved many times to look for better schools for Adam. He was bullied. They lived in a car at times. Adams father wasn’t around “doing his thing”. He chose drinking. Didn’t receive any support from him. Met his father maybe 3 times.

Incident at 4 years old a neighbor child had beat him up with blinds. He went to the hospital. He had other incidents where he wouldn’t go to school because kids were roughing him up. He ended up being sick all the time because he was upset.

Incident with his grandfather. Grandfather was an alcoholic and would tell Adam monsters would come to get him- to scare him when he went to bed.

Adams Mom on the stand talking about how her dad was abusive to her in front of her children. They had to move to get away from him.

Adam also witnessed abuse of Mom from her boyfriend. Mom tried to protect her children from the abuse. She needed back surgery from the abuse.

Adam and Mom involved in a car accident. Three people died around them- not in their car.

When Adam was 10 he was arrested with a pipe. They lived with a doctor?? It belonged to the doctor- for pot. When he was arrested his mom told him to tell the truth. The doctor discouraged Adam from telling the truth. Not sure if he did or not they skipped now to Adams career aspirations.

Adam took a bus and train daily to get to school to be a dj? School was in New York City. This was a few years ago- she can’t remember when.

Defense showing her photo of herself and her two boys. They are very close in age- less than 2 years. Mom describes the photo as an overwhelmed Mom. Another photo of Adam when he was 7.

Describes Adam as a happy child. Children had different fathers and Adam felt left out that when older brother met his father when he was 13. Adam didn’t have much contact with his fishers family- met an uncle once.

She loves her son no matter what. She is hurt. It’s hard she can’t explain. “As a single parent she tried to teach her children” ....can’t finish what she said because I didn’t understand it.

Adam showing no emotion that I’ve seen. Although he is swallowing a lot. Maybe holding back?? Or he’s sucking on a candy I️ can’t tell. I️ could have missed some emotion. I️ had to let my dog out.

Cross- asking about the dynamics of the two brothers - ages, grades etc. pointing out that the boys were close and had a similar upbringing. Mom agrees. Talking about everything she did to care for him - asthma, issues at school she took care of them, issues with her boyfriends she protected them etc. she seems very upset- about to cry.

Marijuana pipe incident- asking if she explained the difference between right and wrong. She says yes.

Trying to get her to agree that everything he did happened while Tristan was in the home. After she said he’s a good father. Asks her does her opinion change after hearing his admissions. She said it hurts.

No redirect.

Defense calling Angela something ? She is in the bathroom.

Mom goes back to seat. Sitting with an older lady and a younger guy. I️ don’t think it’s his brother- looks too young, but I️ saw only for a second.

Angela here now -Adams aunt. Didn’t live near Adam after age 2, but visited every couple years.

When Adam was five he was playing with soldiers. They were divided in good guys and bad guys. He wanted to put them together and have everyone be good guys. He was a happy child. Didn’t keep in touch after he grew up. She was a single mom. She moved to Florida. Her daughter would visit in the summer and see her cousins. Once when stranded in the airport all night Adam stayed with her to protect her.

Knowing all that you know about him how do you feel? I️ will always love him. I️ am sad for what has happened. He will always be my Adam.

My feelings about cross- his family is adamant that Adam was a good boy and knows right from wrong. I️ don’t think they realize why he’s asking that. They love him and want to help- it’s sad. Hard to explain.

Next witness- Estelle Austin from Hudson Florida. Met Adam walking- stopped and offered him a ride because it was hot. Lived in the same neighborhood. Got to talking and she decided he would need a bike. They stopped at ATM and she got him money to buy a bike.

A few weeks later he came by her house with the bike. He wanted to show her the bike. Invited her to stop by and meet his family.

Explains they are a small community - she doesn’t know why she stopped, but she stopped because he is the same age as her son and he was going on a long walk on a hot day. She wanted to help him out.

Cross- points out that she was kind to him. She agrees.

Lunch- next two witnesses just arrived via plane and this will give attorney time to speak with them.

As Adam is lead out someone calls his name. He stops and looks back and smiles with a wave. Ugh this is always really hard for me- to see people who love a monster. I️ can’t even imagine. I️ feel for them for sure.

Asthma? Wasn't he having people buy him cigarettes & he testified he was chain smoking?
