As always, protecting the husband who is not the father. The relation is not disclosed but you can easily infer it

A Florida woman witnessed her ex-husband allegedly raping a minor and did nothing about it, and now both have been charged with felonies, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

“She knew what had happened because she walked in when I was (redacted) and I put on my clothes,” the girl told investigators, according to the report. “(She) told me not to say anything, because if I did, I was gonna get in trouble.”

Melissa Brito Urbay told deputies that she “did not believe the allegations to be true because ‘he doesn’t seem like the type,’” according to the report.

“She might have tried to tell me (about the assaults), but I probably came off kind of strong so she said ‘never mind,’” the report states Melissa Brito Urbay claimed.

Deputies said she had also tipped off her ex to the investigation.

This is horrifying. They're divorced according to the article. The abuse had been ongoing. So the poor girl probably tried to let the woman (her mother?) know prior to walking in it happening. Sick people.

I am so glad the hotline got the call, probably from the little girl or maybe an adult from school? Trafficking posters, abuse posters, abuse hotlines and all those resources need to be posters in elementary schools. Particularly on the interior bathroom stall doors. Children don't have the knowledge, skill or resources to save themselves. Helping them is necessary!

Child neglect??? IMO she's an accomplice!!! Lock them both up and throw away the key. That goes beyond neglect. MOO

They haven't released the relationship between the rapist and the victim, AFAIK from those articles. And there appears to be a charge of incest.

How do you infer easily who the rapist is, in relationship to the victim?

They used to be married?!
Those two are an odd pairing.

So odd infanct that I almost wonder if their shared proclivity of preying on & abusing children was literally the basis of their relationship.

<modsnip>

Clearly not integrity or wonderful character. Is she wealthy? If not, I lean towards the theory that she likely didn't just have knowledge of the abuse & gave threats not to tell. I'm honestly wondering If she was offering up kids for him to abuse or if she too prefers to actually partake and this is simply the first victim of theirs who spoke up and again, a motivating factor for their being married at one time. LE is hopefully digging further into her.

Would we see this (sealed record) if she agreed to testify against him? IANAL MOO
Probably not. Altho it could come out verbally during the trial. I didn’t research to see if the media published anything about her.
