It began with Za'Mon, the older child. When he was about 2, he and his mother, Violet Roberts, lived in Central Park Village, where Roberts' boyfriend, Carr Brazelton III, would babysit while Roberts worked as a motel maid.

One day in April 2004, Roberts called police to report Za'Mon's bloody lips and bruised cheeks. Later that day, an examination at Tampa General Hospital revealed Za'Mon had suffered two fractured ribs, a fractured left arm and a lacerated liver, according to court records.

By this year, Roberts and her sons had moved to an apartment at 2301 E. Sligh Ave. with her uncle and another boyfriend, Chadrick Toto Thomas. On April 12, she left Thomas to watch the boys while she went to work.

She never saw Za'Conyae alive again.

An autopsy discovered that Za'Conyae, just 6 months old, had suffered two skull fractures, 17 rib fractures in different stages of healing and trauma to his chest, according to child protective records.

This kinda stuff makes you want to throw up your hands and forget it -- that situation is multiplied all across this country --
boy gets girl pregnant, girl gets job, unemployed SOB lives off her food stamps and assistance, gets agitated with his ONE responsibility, babysitting, and simply kills kids.

Yeah, social services should have intervened, but somehow these women need to be empowered to stay OUT of these relationships --
The little guys take the fall -- just horrible.
