GUILTY OK - Onlabee Blaine, 13 mos, beaten to death, Oklahoma City, 30 April 2010

The mother of a 1-year-old now faces a first-degree murder charge in the infant's death.

According to police, officers responded Friday, April 30 to an unresponsive child in the 3000 block of S.W. 60th Street at about 8:40 p.m. Police said 1-year-old Blane Onlabee was transported to S.W. Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The State Medical Examiner's Office found that Onlabee suffered severe internal injuries that led to his death.

Monday morning, Onlabee mother, 27-year-old Brandy Perry, was interviewed by investigators from the Crimes Against Children Unit and was subsequently booked into the Oklahoma County jail on count each of child abuse and first-degree murder.

During the interview, Perry told police that about a month earlier, she "accidentally" hit Onlabee in the face with her hand, hard enough to cause his eye to swell and his face to turn black and blue from the bruising, the affidavit said.

She also admitted there were other times when she forcefully pushed down on the child's abdomen while changing his diaper, and that she could have caused injury at those times, the document said.

"During the autopsy, there were healing rib fractures found on this child that would have been more than a week old," police Detective Tony Foreman wrote in the affidavit.
