Body identified by medical examiner as Angela Biggers of Oklahoma City

Circumstantial factors have led pathologists to identify Biggers, said spokeswoman Cherokee Ballard.

“We do circumstantial identifications on occasion,” Ballard said Friday.

Although dental records and DNA evidence was not enough to give a positive ID, Ballard said other factors have led pathologists to make the identity.

“Everything combined pointed to the ID,” Ballard said.

Ballard said identifying the body based on circumstantial factors was done to help the the family move forward.

“We wanted the family to go ahead and have services,” Ballard said.

Ballard said the manner and cause of Biggers' death is still under investigation.

I know that this was 5 years ago, but I don't believe I have ever heard the term, "circumstantial identification." How interesting. What if the family buried the body, only to find out later through DNA,for example, that it was not their mother? I know the chances are somewhat unlikely, but it has happened with accident victims.
