Wait I don't understand. Why are they saying the bodies were discovered on April 19th near Sand Key?

Yeah I just saw that. Not true and they need to get facts straight
At least we know there really was something about Sand Key that pertained to this case.

LE conducted a search in the area but only found a weathered Glock traced to someone in Marathon in the Florida Keys.

Interesting. I just got an email from USF President (I got my graduate degree there). I wonder if it's the same one he sent out to the students and parents and just now remembered the alumni (I never expected to get a letter to be clear!) I'll see if I can copy it in here.

Very odd then that Sand Key is mentioned at all in the document.

It's the same letter.

I don’t know if the apartment management can officially be held liable in any way, but I would definitely want answers if I was the families. How was someone with a very recent violent criminal past allowed to live there? Would his charges not have popped up in a background check?

The moment his name was released I (along with others here) Googled him and his charges were one of the first results! But Zamil couldn’t have known to check and probably would’ve assumed someone like that wouldn’t be permitted in primarily student housing.

They searched the area because HA's vehicle and Zamil's phone were at that location at the same time.

I would also want answers if I were the families. Have you heard anything about how long he'd been living in that apartment? Was he already living there when he was convicted of the misdemeanor involving violence? If he was already living there when convicted I don't know how apartment management would even know about it. It will be interesting when it all comes out how that living arrangement came about.

This makes me wonder if the 3rd roommate was going to be his next victim...

I'm still reading through the 23 pages and on April 13 HA asked ChatGPT: "What happens if a human has a put in a black garbage bag and thrown in a dumpster". ChatGPT says: "it sound dangerous" to what HA replies: "How would they find out".
What a... MOO JMO

ETA: There was a third person sharing the apartment with Zamil and HA... I can't imagine what's going through their mind right now.
@PatLaurel where can I gain access to the Motion for Pretrial Detention? If you could share a link, I'd very much appreciate it.

ETA: Never mind. I see the link was posted while I was writing this very post.

My heart breaks for these two bright, studious and brave young people. I cannot stand to think of the fear and agony they endured at the hands of this, IMO, barbarian.

And I cannot help grieving for what their families, so terribly far away, are going through. Murderers exist worldwide, but to send your children to one of the most coveted foreign shores, America, so they can can achieve an education many will only ever dream of, makes this crime feel all the more cruel. Savage. Senseless. Selfish.
