You refer to her as Bristy. What name does she generally go by? Nahida or Bristy? I just want to respect who she is.
She goes by Bristy to family and friends.

In our culture, names don’t always follow the first name/last name structure. The last part isn’t necessarily a family name. More often than not, it’s the name the person actually goes by.

Edited to add: Bristy in Bangla means Rain.

Thank you. That's really helpful.
I will be thinking about Bristy and hope that she is found safe!

ETA: so what name would Zamil Limon have gone by? Limon? Did you know him? (I absolutely hate using past tense for him. He seems like a bright light taken from us much too soon.)

Wow, so much to catch up on!

So sad to hear about the developments, but glad that the alleged perp is in custody.

I see a couple of options here:

1- HA had an altercation with ZL, and during that altercation (which ended up resulting in his death) ZL managed to call/text NB to come and help. She unfortunately showed up and was confronted by HA.

2- HA killed ZL and then lured NB in with an excuse. This scenario is particularly ominous to me, because NB was not part of the situation, she wasn't involved, could have gone about her day and wouldn't have been the wiser, but he decided to drag her into it on purpose.

I'm hoping I'm wrong and NB is safe somewhere, but I'm not positive.
:(

I did not know Zamil personally. I’m friends with a couple of his friends and they refer to him as Zamil.

I know it might seem like it contradicts what I said about name structure, but there really isn’t a single rule. It mostly comes down to each person’s preference.

Welcome @newcomers23. I am so sorry that it is under these terrible conditions.

I hope you don't mind if I post a google translated version of your post. Of course I understand that it will not fully reflect the intent of your message and will likely come up short. (If you want me to delete the translation I will. Just let me know.)

The translation is:
"There are no words to comfort you. May God give the family the strength to endure.
15 years ago today, I too had come with admission to Masters like rain. I couldn't do any work all day today after seeing the news. It is inhumane for a young life to be lost like this at such a young age.
Everyone should be a little careful. America is a very developed country, but if danger is imminent, it will break through the iron wall."

Hugs and warm wishes to you. I am sorry for your suffering. I feel that you are connecting through an echo with Bristy. That must be devastating.

No issue at all.
I have a question: If NB's body is thrown from the bridge six days ago, where can it be now? Can anybody with some knowledge about buyoancy and wave directions give any idea? Can sharks eat it off? What is the possibility of the body be found by LE?

I am so sorry to see this just now, caught my breath. Heartbreaking. Zamil and Bristy, so young, motivated, bright futures ahead that no doubt would have contributed to humanity.
My sincere condolences @Natashaaa for the loss of your friend, and @newcomers23.

I’m struggling to hold back tears, so I don’t have many words. I just want to thank everyone here for showing such genuine concern and empathy for two strangers. May all our prayers be accepted. May Bristy and Zamil rest in eternal peace. Amen.

It is extremely sad and unfair. Hope the families find peace in this difficult time.

Oh, that's awful. I hope he'll just admit what he did with Nahida. :(
I hope that she is found soon, but seeing that Hisham is a jealous person ..he could not stand to see zamil happy, I think that Hisham must have said something to zamil about the relationship and zamil got upset and Hisham struck him and then panicked and called nahida ,so she came over and then he struck her as well. I feel as if Hisham put the bodies in the large bags and tried to dump them over the bridge..he threw Nahida over the bridge first and then proceeded to throw zamils body but he saw a car coming his way and he just left the body in the bag and just left , he then went home and flipped out the next day on his dad ,his dad calls the police and since he was already interviewed by the police ..the police linked the two cases and arrested him. Now we wait to see if they find Nahida.

I hope that @Natashaaa and @newcomers23 can feel some comfort that members of this group care deeply about both Zamil and Bristy and are horrified by the monster who ended their young lives. Here is an unlocked NYT article on this case.

So sad and terrible. 😢

Bangladeshi student Nahida Sultana Bristy, who had been missing in the United States, has been killed, her family has confirmed.

Her brother, Zahid Hasan Prant, told the media that police informed him about the death after conducting a DNA test on body parts recovered from a residence. “They told me the DNA matched my sister. However, it is still uncertain whether the full body will be recovered,” he said.
