I’m struggling to hold back tears, so I don’t have many words. I just want to thank everyone here for showing such genuine concern and empathy for two strangers. May all our prayers be accepted. May Bristy and Zamil rest in eternal peace. Amen.
My heart is breaking for you and @newcomers23 💔. If it gives you any comfort to be here I hope you stay. 🫂

So sad and terrible. 😢

Bangladeshi student Nahida Sultana Bristy, who had been missing in the United States, has been killed, her family has confirmed.

Her brother, Zahid Hasan Prant, told the media that police informed him about the death after conducting a DNA test on body parts recovered from a residence. “They told me the DNA matched my sister. However, it is still uncertain whether the full body will be recovered,” he said.

Oh gawd, "body parts"?
This is getting worse by the minute.

So sorry for this senseless loss, for their friends and family 😢

Thank you for posting the link! I can't understand why the local news this morning isn't saying anything about her death being confirmed or body parts being recovered. Maybe it's just a timing lag between notifying the family and the public.

Here is a US media link from this morning with an update that gives the information about what was found in the apartment.

UPDATE 12:53 a.m. 4/25/2026: The brother of missing USF graduate student Nahida Bristy tells 10 Tampa Bay News reporter Chris Hurst that investigators called the family in Bangladesh late Friday night to say they believe she is dead because of "the volume of blood" found at the shared apartment of the other previous missing graduate student, Zamil Limon, and the suspect in their killings, Hisham Abugharbieh. That brother, Zahid Hasan Pranto, says the family was told that her body may never be found and may have been dismembered.

I'm am deeply saddened by the outcome abd my condolences to the families.
I suspected the roommate for days. Ever since searching fb I came across multiple posts from Zamil's account on multiple USF roommate pages looking for a new room to rent for the middle of February. It made me wonder if there had been problems with the current one. Especially since it appeared to be only 6 months since he started going to USF and I assumed he would have had atleast a years lease or agreement. He had 3 or 4 different posts. So sad he wasn't able to find a different roommate and get away from him.

Thank you so much. That's our local CBS station here in Tampa. I'm shocked at the whole situation but especially why it seems like his anger/rage was more pronounced with her than Limon. JMO of course based on what's being reported. Just tragic.

No issue at all.
I have a question: If NB's body is thrown from the bridge six days ago, where can it be now? Can anybody with some knowledge about buyoancy and wave directions give any idea? Can sharks eat it off? What is the possibility of the body be found by LE?
I don't see that happening. The POI is large, but he's obese, not a body building physique. Having had to assist in removing remains from an accident scene I can assure you that lifting a "dead weight" (and I mean no disrepsect - that is the term used) body, who is unconscious or not breathing is EXTREMELY difficult, harder than you'd think. A single person normally can't do so. Lifting that same person up and over your head to move them over a railing would require upper body strength I don't see the perp having. He looks really out of shape to me, despite his pounds. I think the bridge was likely a "red herring".

Good point. But then I wonder where is Bristy's body parts. Police have found the DNA in the blood. If the body in the black bag is only ZL's, where are her body parts kept?

I think Grace is right about the suspect's ability to lift a body over his head. I feel bad even speculating here but if her body was in parts I think he could have disposed of her in the water a few at a time. I don't know why he would have left Zamil on the bridge and taken her body parts somewhere else but it's hard to think like an accused murderer.

There's a hearing this morning at 10:00. I would assume he's appearing but I don't know whether it will be broadcast.

My perspective of this entire sad scenario is effectively, Abugharbieh’s only means to get to Bristy was thru Zamil. He must have coveted her. His warped mind must thought, he could eliminate Zamil, then he could get to Bristy.

Except that his rage at her likely rejection of him took over, and he mutilated her body. This begs the question of during prior DV events, who did he target? Female family? Prior female friend(s)?

“He shared that she is a good girl, and she has a lot of talent, like she can sing and cook well,” Ahmed, the brother, said.

Limon had been hard at work on his thesis for the past two years, studying how to use generative AI to monitor shrinking wetland in South Florida, his brother said.

“My brother is very decent and very simple person,” Ahmed said. “He always put a smile on his face.”

After completing his PhD, Limon wanted to return to Bangladesh and get a job as a university professor, Ahmed said.

My sincere condolences @Natashaaa for the loss of your friend, and @newcomers23.
May Zamil and Bristy rest in peace.
Oh no. How sad.
