The KION link above (and below) has information via CNN I hadn't heard. I don't know whether it's true or not, CNN sometimes gets things wrong, but it's worth a read.
"Abugharbieh was arrested at his family’s home, where a judge had previously prohibited him from entering due to domestic violence allegations made by his brother.

The suspect was arrested twice in 2023 on charges of battery, which were later dropped, according to court records. But after one of those incidents, his brother filed for an injunction that prohibited Abugharbieh from coming near him or his home. In court filings, the brother alleged Abugharbieh attacked him and his mother during an argument in which the brother was telling him to get out of the house.

When the injunction expired last May, the brother asked the court to extend it, saying he didn’t want to “run the risk of him returning.” His request was denied."

Wow. Sounds like there was something seriously off with him! Multiple previous arrests for violent attacks! I wish this apartment complex had done their due diligence and not let him live there. Now two bright young lives are gone for no reason.

Many apartments place people with roommates randomly, I’m sure Zamil didn’t even have a choice and would have no way to know Hisham had a violent past. SMH. So, so sad and senseless.

It's so sad. I also believe it was a random placement, particularly since someone upthread said Zamil had posted on fb that he was looking for a new roommate. Interesting thought about the apartment complex's due diligence.

The sad thing is the court declined the prosecute the worst of the domestic violence cases against him (including where he struck his victim with a closed fist repeatedly in the face) and the assault against a stranger AFTER a burglary he only paid a small fine with the charge then deemed a misdimeaner. So no convictions for felonies that would have shown up on a background check by the housing authority.

Omg… that’s so horribly sad. It’s definitely tough to find housing as a student. I’m sure he didn’t have many choices. How awful he was stuck with a roommate like this. And that Bristy had to ultimately suffer from it too. Unimaginable.

It seemed like he just got anonymous responders with links to possible spam/scams. So sad. I bet he would have been an awesome roommate and friend. Yes he and Bristy would still be here I'm sure

I think it was about Zamil wanting to move out so suspect would out that share of rent. Maybe Zamil didn't tell him and he found out because of the posts. Either way, money and feeling slighted could have been a motive also.

Good golly isn’t it obvious he needs to be held? I can’t imagine him being released nor would anyone put up bail for him. He will self destruct and there will be more victims!

I’m struggling with understanding the roommate living arrangement.

Was the apt student housing off campus? I thought the roommate was NOT a student. Why would these two be arbitrarily housed together if only one was a student?

I’m not getting it.
