Flight delayed after woman brings 'emotional support squirrel' on plane

Police escorted a woman off a plane Tuesday after she brought an unexpected furry friend on a Frontier Airlines flight from Orlando to Cleveland – a squirrel.

The woman informed Frontier Airlines she was taking an "emotional support animal" on the flight from Florida when she made her reservation, according to the Associated Press. However, she did not say the animal was a squirrel. The airline said they called Orlando police after they asked the woman to leave the plane with the animal and she refused...

I wonder if flight attendants offered the "emotional support animal" some nuts? :D

Before I pass judgement I'd first like to know the squirrel's name.

Woman with 'emotional support squirrel' removed from plane

..."Everyone was a little panicked. You expect the worst when they say something like that," the 24-year-old Ashland, Ohio resident said. "A lot of people were asking questions. People wanted to know what was going on."

As he exited the plane, Nixon said he asked a flight attendant if she had any other information. "All she said was 'a squirrel,'" he said...

Which passenger was more squirrely, the woman or her emotional support animal?

Did she buy it a ticket?? When we flew with a puppy, we had to buy her a ticket.
And, keep her in her carrier for the whole time.....with a four hour delay as well.

Hope squirrely woman had to pay for her pal the squirrel.

Well, getting kicked off the plane wasn't a problem, at least not for Rocky. After all, isn't he a flying squirrel?

The other larger squirrel seemed upset though.

Must be hard to be friends with a squirrel ‘cause they drive you nuts.

Although I don't have a link for it, and probably one doesn't exist, but the reason she chose that airline was BECAUSE it served nuts. None of the other major airlines serve food on such a short flight! She knew her support sidekick would be well fed. Some FAA regulation freak ruined it for her and Rocky! (Of course, I made this up!)

What if you are allergic and someone has a cat or dog?

The cat and dog are fine....is that what you're asking?

Or do you mean what happens to the person? If so, check with the airline cause cats and dogs fly all the time.

If I were allergic, I'd take my meds with me....antihistamines or Epi pen, whatever.

I am allergic to cats and take no meds. I simply stay away from them.

There is no way I could sit next to a cat. I do not fly first or business. I fly Premium economy and there is no way I would sit in economy.

I have never been on a flight with an animal. Service dogs are well trained. I doubt if emotional support animals are.

Where do they go to the bathroom?

I bet you have been on a flight with someones' pet. They don't tell you and its usually kept under the seat. Unless the animal becomes vocal, you'd not know......
or unless your allergy kicked in.

I agree that emotional support animals are probably not well trained...nor are their owners, often.

We've only flown with a young pup once. She didn't 'go' at all during the time we were travelling. The person who had her for us, cut her water intake down a bit during the preflight hours and we just gave her short sips of water.

We were advised to not feed her until after we landed as well.

I did have 'pee pads' for her use in the terminal but she didn't bother.

For a tiny pup, she was amazing.

If I were you, I'd take an antihistamine or Benadryl on all future flights just in case.

When my support Charolais was a calf, she was happy to stand at the rear of passenger class as long as we hand-fed her from those little airline bottles of vodka often.

Mooo!

I am not a proponent of using drugs especially on a plane. The air has enough problems without adding more drying issues.

I,have never seen a pet on a flight. But then again I usually am flying international and having a pet on an internarional flight is incredibly difficult. Quarantine rules

I hope if there are animals onboard, adjacent passengers are asked if it is an issue. Some people are deathly afraid of dogs. My assistant at work was terrified of cats. .
