Florida - Coronavirus Covid-19 #2

  • #321
"Thousands of people packed closely together cheered and chanted “We love you!” as President Donald Trump flew into Central Florida on Monday night to hold his first campaign rally outside Washington since his coronavirus diagnosis 11 days ago."
And Seminole county has a mandatory mask ordinance - no respect for local rule IMO

He was throwing masks out to the crowd. Kind of reminded me how he was throwing paper towels at people in Puerto Rico after the hurricane.

Sadly, these people won’t put them on... except for a few minutes to advertise maga, which is probably why he gave them out as he doesn’t promote mask wearing.
How many germs stuck to the masks from his hands, from the air that was being exhaled by the attendees as it sailed thru the air and from anyone it touched on its way to the recipients hand.

Masks: Free!
Covid-19 No Extra Charge!

I can hear the infomercial now....

It's very odd. If CoVid had been a deliberate, biological terrorist attack would these leaders act differently? Would they protect their people by doing all they could to uphold the public health recommendations, or would they still throw fuel on the problem with their reckless behavior?

I think we would see a military response to this and we definitely would not see mass rally’s without masks

Yes, there would likely be such a different way to deal with it. Which is very weird.

That’s funny!

Covid-19: Free! No mask Required.

ETA: My friend in Ft Lauderdale is peeved that there’s a rally in her area without a mask requirement.

"To obtain tickets, rally-goers must agree to a liability waiver acknowledging the risk of catching the virus. Campaign officials have said the event will be held in an airplane hangar with open doors.".

You can't make this up. This is actually a direct quote from the article.

They have been making rally attendees electronically agree to these covid waivers at all rallies that Trump has resumed after he had covid.

Wait and see... there may be lawsuits in the future that may come up. These waivers are pretty useless, but only put fear of suing into these people. The fear factor seems to be used in many ways in his campaign imo.

Interesting that there is no link to the communities these tests have been or will be provided to.

DeSantis: Florida distributing rapid tests to vulnerable senior communities

Snip:
The tests are being distributed and DeSantis said nearly 100 communities have been added to the distribution list.
Sounds good though, eh? Especially since T will be continually coming to our state with his superspreading rallies trying to get our 29 electoral votes.

Next one coming to Ocala on Friday. Another airport....guess he can get in & out quickly and on to the next one.

I believe that the airports are federal property, so Trump can flaunt local ordinances regarding limited public gatherings.

good question - I think they are owned locally - here's the SAA link for Sanford Airport
Sanford Airport Authority | Sanford International Airport

of course, there were no citations issued

I worked for one airport authority for 5 years and another for 2.5 years. Airport Authorities are a quasi-gov’t organization that are required to be run according to a thick rule book. They are funded by rental fees from all vendors, airlines, food, service, etc. They are not funded by tax dollars.

There is a board that oversees them and the mayors are heavily involved. When a president visits, the airport is put on alert a few days in advance, the Secret Service descends upon the premises, instant background checks are run, and on occasion, some dipstick is walked out. Also, depending on the size of the President’s ego, determined if us employees were allowed to line up and watch Air Force One take off and land. LOL!

I remember when Obama came to the FL airport I was at. Me and the maint crew were lined up along the runway by the maint bldg.

My oldest was in 10th grade math class at the time. So I texted her a pic of the plane. She tells her teacher that her Mom is next to the plane. She texts back “My teacher doesn’t believe me/you.”

The Pilot next to me says “Here, send that idiot this picture.” The pilots pic was better than mine. So I text my kid back and say “ask him for his school email address. I’ll send the pic directly to him.”

Needless to say, he finally believed her after receiving my email. After that he would ask my kid, “Did your Mom get any other pics?” She would roll her eyes and text me.

Not surprising. Parents are fighting not to have their kids where masks at school. Ridiculousness.

Sarasota County and Florida report most new COVID-19 cases in two months

Sarasota County had 79 new COVID-19 cases reported – the highest single-day rise since August 14 – and an average positivity rate of 4.5% for the last week. Manatee County reported 87 new cases, with an average positivity rate of 5.43% for the last week, according to the FDOH.

One new COVID-19 death was reported in each county, following a surprising jump of 15 new deaths in Sarasota-Manatee reported yesterday.

5,557 new COVID-19 cases – the highest single day total since August 15 – and 57 newly verified deaths were reported statewide. The cumulative number of Florida cases is now 768,091 and the reported death toll for state residents since the pandemic began is 16,267.

I don't believe those numbers at all. It is a drop in the bucket compared to the population in Florida. And that is a pretty terrible statement when talking about over 16,000 deaths.

With so many friends who are teachers, this really pisses me off. If they win, I guarantee you those teachers will put those bratty bullies in the back- and I do mean the waaaay back- of the class. Can’t see the Smartboard? Oh well. Put your mask on- it’ll improve your eyesight.

Off the soapbox. Don’t get me staaaaarrrrted...
