A good read...if interested

Florida’s Summer of Dread
That is a good read. The virus fatigue is so profound, I fear people won’t even pay attention to a hurricane. It’s like they have nothing left to lose so why evacuate, why prep, etc.

Florida nears 500,000 coronavirus cases as Tropical Storm Isaias passes by

TAMPA — With Tropical Storm Isaias churning closer to the eastern seaboard, Florida’s emergency management officials reported 1,312 deaths in the past seven days due to the novel coronavirus, setting a new record for weekly reported deaths.

Sunday’s update from the Florida Department of Health offered a slight reprieve from the record-breaking fatalities seen in the past week. From Sunday to Sunday, state health officials reported 63,277 new coronavirus infections and 3,086 COVID-19 hospitalizations.

But after five straight days of daily death tolls topping 100 — and a record 257 deaths Friday — state health officials reported 62 coronavirus-related deaths on Sunday. That brings the number of lives lost to the virus to 7,206 in the five months since Florida’s first case was identified.

Florida's case and death numbers will be artificially LOW for a few more days as testing
was halted in many areas until Wed. 8/5 due to
the tropical storm.
Fl. is due to hit 500,000 cases by Tues. 8/4.
Orlando, (Orange Co.) will hit 30,000.
Let's just all understand the virus is spreading
regardless of the deflated numbers and Governor's spiel about things looking up.

With busiest Florida testing sites closed, new coronavirus cases drop significantly

Yes, I saw the "spin" on this..."LOOK the numbers are going DOWN!". Yeah, because they are not doing testing! Doh!

I posted this on the main thread, but as of yesterday, FL had about 38,000 cases of CoVId in the 17 and under group.

9 of them have died and I'm guessing it will go a bit higher from that cohort. That's about 1 in 4000 kids (of those who got CoVid).

and our kids are heading back to school - we had a teacher call today to get her Will done because she is afraid of getting COVID.

I was formerly keeping all the daily numbers but I've sorta gotten away from the daily, depressing news. However in looking back a week before the testing slowed down due to the hurricane problems, we were averaging 11-12,000 new cases daily and "only'125 deaths daily. Now deaths are doubled- 245-257 daily.
Who says things are improving in Florida?

my guess? the same who aren't wearing masks, going to the bars, playing basketball in the park, no social distancing - it's "just a cold crowd" - well, except for all these deaths.

Proof the numbers are totally jacked up.....

In post #218, I mentioned my friend who is dating the post office guy. His test was done wrong and processed wrong. He was also told he was negative, maybe. Well, my friend got tested and she is positive! So obviously the boyfriends test was a false negative or they gave him the wrong result.

My friend has had cold symptoms, loss of taste/smell, etc. for over a week and her breathing is becoming more labored. She has been working from home. Her 27 year old daughter lives with her and has no symptoms. Her daughter works at a hotel as an auditor and doesn't have a lot of contact with the public. I don’t know if they will make her quarantine.

Thank goodness I wasn’t around her for over 2 weeks!!

Fight Over Face Mask Mandate Goes To Florida Appeals Court

Plaintiff Evan Power, Leon County Republican Party chairman who is teaming with state Rep. Anthony Sabatini, R-Howey-in-the-Hills, to challenge the ordinance, has filed a notice that he is taking the case to the 1st District Court of Appeal. That notice came after Leon County Circuit Judge John Cooper last week issued a 27-page final judgment rejecting arguments that the ordinance violates a series of constitutional rights, including rights to privacy and due process.

Floriduh Man!

Florida Man Spits in Child's Face for Wearing a Mask

Once police arrived and arrested Copenhaver after he also allegedly attempted to hit an employee, he would later be released from jail after posting $650 bail. Police also said that he was not sure whether he had COVID-19 himself. This all occurs while the state of Florida is doing absolutely terribly at curtailing the spread of this pandemic. As of Aug. 5, the state has recorded 5,409 new cases to add to it's 503,000 confirmed count and has also recorded 225 more deaths to add to its total of 7,626.

This is disgusting, inhuman behavior. What kind of monster does this to a child? That bail really should have been higher. MOO.
