Yes- this is what I’m saying though- if they take temps and you have a fever- COVID-19 or not- then what? Force you to go to a hospital 500 miles away? They have to let people get to a safe place. This isn’t just a coastal hurricane issue. It will apply to all the CA wildfire evacs, etc., too. They better figure it out- I don’t think this’ll be over anytime soon. Jmo.

If someone has a temp then they have to be put at a different shelter or hospital. I don't know what else they can do, but there are enough schools that can be shelters and places for quarantined individuals. People also don't know to bring supplies with them either. They should bring their own T.P, water, snacks and something to sleep on. Lots of people here drop off an elderly person and just leave them to fend for themselves, no supplies.

This is seriously a "must read" article. And goes beyond anything I ever even imagined. Earlier, in this thread, I noted that we probably would not hear about the CV19 deaths of the ALF and nursing home residents in Florida.

Well, in this article, apparently, not even families are notified by the businesses that there is even an infection present in the facility where their family members are residing. And the governor wanted to ensure that this did not occur, by blocking a lawsuit by the Miami Herald.

Read the article. Totally makes sense to me.

There are 691 licensed nursing homes in Florida, representing about 84,448 beds — and another 3,080 licensed ALFs, representing about 106,103 beds.

Not keeping the statistics on home/original location seems so foolish to me. We learn from our mistakes as humans. We can track and prep for the next epidemic by learning how we failed. We can improve. I’m baffled by the leadership at all levels that doesn't recognize this fundamental truth. Our businesses, states and our country need to follow the abiding truths we already know.

Some of the counties have narrowed the age window 24-97 for example. I wish they all would. If a county has only elderly then we know where they tend to congregate. If we know its middle aged, we know their general location. And if they’re a child, we can pinpoint their source too. This can be a valuable tool. Still not getting why it’s not accurately tracked on this site.

Coronavirus: Universal Orlando extends closure

ORLANDO, Fla. —

Universal Orlando announced Thursday that its theme parks, resorts and CityWalk will remain closed through at least May 31.

Universal extended the closure that had been in place through April 19.

43,000 more Disney workers being furloughed over coronavirus

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. —

About 43,000 more Disney employees will be furloughed due to coronavirus closures after an agreement was reached with the unions that represent them.

The agreement with the Service Trades Council, a coalition of six unions, was announced Saturday on Facebook Live. This is the largest wave of furloughs since the theme park resort closed in mid-March.

Disney (DIS) stock is holding steady above three-year lows amid the coronavirus outbreak that has ravaged Wall Street. But even as the company closes theme parks, its Disney+ service could help lessen the blow.

Yet shares rose 2.2% Thursday, as the diversified media giant launched Disney+ in India (April 3) through its Hotstar (now called Disney+ Hotstar) video streaming service. India is in the midst of a three-week lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

New Leadership
The media giant made headlines Feb. 25 when CEO Bob Iger stepped down, effective immediately. Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, was named the new chief executive. Iger will stay on until the end of 2021 as executive chairman and direct Disney's creative endeavors.

"Disney's nearly 100-year history, and he has proven himself exceptionally qualified to lead the company into its next century."

Under Iger's 14-year-plus tenure, Disney stock soared more than 400%, or about 12% annualized. He revamped the theme parks, brought Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar into Disney's movie universe, and launched Disney+.

The coronavirus pandemic is taking its toll on Disney's parks, cruises and movie businesses. But the November debut of Disney+ is proving propitious, as people spend more time at home. While the media giant has halted all live-action film production for now, it went ahead with scheduled plans to expand into Europe, with a delay in France.

But Covid-19 delayed plans to launch Disney+ March 29 in India, the world's second-most-populous country. Service was set to start at the same time as the Twenty20 cricket tournament, which has been postponed until April 15 amid coronavirus concerns.
