The sheriff's office said Thompson was a suspect in a child abuse investigation in 2019. Thompson said he accidentally sat on the arm of a four year old child. The child suffered a broken arm. He was not arrested in the case. Instead, he was subject to an injunction to prevent child abuse. He later violated the injunction by having firearms in his possession. That led to his arrest on a misdemeanor charge.
