Covid found me about a week ago. Besides all the usual cruddy symptoms, my smell and taste are off. Not gone, just off. Nothing tastes good, even things that still smell good to me. And my sugar cravings are through the roof, which is odd because I don't normally eat much sugar. Nothing I eat is satisfying. :(
Hope you’re feeling better, @155etta .

Stay warm and safe peeps! I have been enjoying some different teas lately, nothing is better than hot tea when coming in from the cold! My husband has the kettle hot and ready when I get home.

My favorite lately has been Ginger Peach.

Question, I noticed many items were unavailable on my latest grocery buy, most I’ve seen to date.

I’m curious as to what specific items you may be seeing missing from your shelves.

I’ve heard a lot of cat food is missing - my friend says she now buys canned tuna (still at .89c per can).

I was unable to get certain chips and ice cream, frozen dinners, Parmesan cheese, green juice.

(Gotta have that green juice to offset the chips and ice cream haha)
Lately here in SE MI it has not been too bad. I did have a hard time finding the particular variety of Silk soy milk I like. Other than that, I was able to get all that was in my list. I shopped at a little market here and they are usually well stocked. The last time I was at Meijer, there were some empty areas in the cereal department.

The grocery items on my list that are hard to find are fresh spinach and distilled water. I order groceries for curbside pickup, and for the last several weeks all of the sizes and brands of fresh spinach are unavailable. No distilled water available.

One of my cats has been on a prescription cat food for years that we have bought at the vet’s office. Last week I found out that even the veterinarians in the area can’t get the brand of prescription food we use. The vet recommended buying it on Chewy but it is more expensive than what the vet had been charging, $26 per bag more.

I’m in SWFL and individual drinks here are always in high demand. Gatorade, children’s juice boxes, water bottles, flavored teas, etc.

The hardest thing for me to find is the juices I can drink. I have a lot of fruit allergies too. There are juices in big jugs, just not in small bottles. I can never finish a 1/2 gallon of anything besides milk or water. I try to keep small bottles on hand so I am not wasting money. They also fit well in my tiny cooler when I have to travel to treatment up in Tampa.

The other item that concerns me are paper towels due to food allergies and cross contamination. When I find the big packages of 6 or 9 rolls, I buy them and stack them in my garage.

Lately I’ve been surprised at the cereal shelves being so empty. I wonder if people are tired of making meals and buying more cereal instead. Or, is it really the supply chain items to assemble the cereal. Maybe its both.

I did notice the dairy items aren’t as plentiful but not too low either. Sometimes I have to pick a different brand.

I have noticed empty cereal aisles, but the only cereal we buy is old fashioned oats which we get at Costco.

Also the frozen entree shelves seem empty when I walk through the freezer area. I don’t buy them but I noticed when I walk by.

The last two times I ordered from Chipotle they have been out of romaine and sautéed vegetables, at both locations near my home.

Gatorade! Especially the G2.
None in any flavor or size except the fruit punch in large. Yuck

Thank you. I'm slowly getting there. The cough is REALLY hanging on. And still congested, especially in the mornings. Smell and taste are still off as well. Luckily our adult daughter that lives with us did not get it. I'm thankful for that.

I know you're in Montana, have you tried this tea? Maybe it was on this thread that I first heard about it? Can't remember. It's called Evening in Missoula.

DH went to Nino's and Meijer after his swim on Tuesday to pick up some items before the snowstorm. He got bagels and lox at Nino's, but they didn't have cream cheese in the resealable tubs. Meijer didn't have it either, so he got an 8 oz. brick.

We had P.F. Chang's frozen appetizer/entree again last night as we only ate one of each on Tuesday. Tonight we are having beautiful sockeye salmon from Costco. It's easily enough for two meals, so tomorrow we'll mix it with eggs and greens for a scramble or frittata.

We ended up in the 8-10" range of snow yesterday and overnight. DH went out in the late afternoon to start clearing the driveway. There's probably an additional 2-3" that will need to be cleared sometime today. No rush: We don't have to go out anywhere and will enjoy the day at home.

We’re having a Nabisco Cracker shortage.

They were made in Canada now they are made in Mexico.

Neither place anywhere close to here so I’m assuming supply chain problems from Mexico for Mondelēz products formerly known as Kraft and Nabisco.

I've been seeing a commercial for this Hormel Chili-Cheese Dip dozens of times daily. I will make this for an appetizer on Super Bowl Sunday. I won't be able to eat it due to the cheese, but I think it will taste good with tortilla and/or pita chips.

Hormel | Products | HORMEL ® Chili | Chili Cheese Dip

I've been itching to roast Prime Rib and will make a nice dinner on Super Bowl Sunday. I'll invite local family and hope everyone will come. I'll serve the Prime Rib with mashed potatoes, salad, gravy, Yorkshire Pudding. Will think about dessert and a second appetizer along with the Chili-Cheese Dip. I love making Mushroom Barley soup with the leftover beef.

DH uses distilled water with his NeilMed sinus rinse kit. It's been really hard to find distilled water lately. The backup plan is to boil tap water for 5 minutes and let it cool before using.

The Super Bowl is in one week!! My beloved Matthew Stafford is the quarterback for the Rams and I will be cheering him on.
What is everyone planning for food? We will most likely have one or two other couples over to watch the game. I am looking for some ideas!

Made these brownies tonight for a treat. 8x8 pan, perfect size. I used bittersweet chocolate, it was fine. So easy to make. We watched the figure skating tonight. Last night was the opening ceremony, I loved it.

I never did get around to baking a chocolate cake for my National Chocolate Cake Day birthday (1/27), so maybe I'll bake these brownies for the Super Bowl.

I watched Olympic coverage most of the day Saturday while DH watched golf. We watched figure skating last night and will watch again tonight. We will record All Creatures Great and Small on PBS and watch it tomorrow. I've enjoyed watching women's hockey - our gals are going for the gold!
