I think I missed the puppy bowl. I misunderstood and thought it was at 11am. Then saw it was at 2pm. But I was wrapped up in my gardening stuff and forgot. Oh well. No super bowl food or party here.

My oldest is making strawberry bread for their “ Galentine Party “ this week. All the gals, or ladies, get together for an evening. I used to have to use egg substitute but now we can use real eggs. So that gave her pause when she was reading the recipe. I told her it will be very popular!
Mmmm. I like strawberries. That bread looks delicious.
No Super Bowl gathering or food here either. Maybe a grill cheese sandwich for dinner.

Their price is actually not too bad. I may have to look in to that. Thank you.
I checked Chewy for Fancy Feast, I kept selecting different flavors and variety packages - out of stock.
Dang!

I tell y’all my secret- we are finding small boxes of a 9 Lives variety called Super Supper. It is a pate that isn’t fishy smelling and my cats like it. We get it at Dollar General. We went to about 6-7 DGs over the weekend and about half of them had a couple of boxes and some loose cans which we bought. We are well stocked for a while. Our preferred brand is Friskies Turkey Pate and this is a good substitute.

We have a lot of leftovers from Super Bowl dinner, so I am not making mushroom-barley soup until tomorrow. I have stock simmering with beef broth, beef bones, onion, celery, carrot, mushroom base, fresh thyme. I will strain the stock, cover and store overnight in the fridge. Tomorrow, I'll skim the fat off the stock and add carrots, onion, and mushrooms along with barley and leftover roast beef cut into bite-size pieces.

We have a bottle of bubbly chilling and will enjoy it later with shrimp cocktail (leftover from yesterday). We recorded All Creatures Great and Small since we were watching the game last night and will watch it this evening.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm glad you found cat food and that you stocked up. While we experience product shortages and supply chain issues, it's probably a good idea to buy something when you see it even if it's not urgent. If you wait, you might not be able to get what you need.

We watched a movie last night, and I made popcorn. There is a new movie app "Kanopy", all movies are free, with a library card. I added the app to our Roku, and now, 1,000s of new movies. Mostly older films, independent, liking it so far.

@mickey2942 I just finished watching my first movie on Kanopy a few minutes ago. Hereditary is a movie I had been searching to watch for the past four months. Everything was a paid view but it was on Kanopy FREE.

The way I got Kanopy for free was by a library. I had found that a library in the state that I work in (a neighboring state) would accept you for a free card if you submitted proof of employment (pay stub) and a driver's license. The day before yesterday I received a physical card in the mail and was able to link to the library in the Libby app (so I can read on Kindle). Then today, I saw that they had Kanopy as a benefit. So excited.

Don't know if it is just a thing with the library I signed up with, but I can only watch 20 movies a month. Still, a huge plus for me as Kanopy has a ton of movies.

To stay on topic with the thread LOL, I had chili on Sunday and have been in a comfort food mood - eating soups and "bready" stuff as it has been so cold (for weeks) until today where the temps suddenly shot up almost to 60 at one point.

Welcome to the group @ContentHomebody! Glad you also found "Kanopy". I was amazed. Our libraries have so much to offer.

I will make the cocoa brownies this weekend.

I saw this online and it is helpful to me. Sure explains why I detest red and white onions.

We're kinda in a food rut so I've been trying to make some different things. Had Shrimp spaghetti this weekend. Sautee shrimp in garlic and butter, set aside and made a little sauce with butter, garlic, white wine, lemon, capers, tomatoes and artichoke hearts. Add the shrimp back and served over spaghetti noodles with some parm.

Tonight I think I'll do pork chops with braised cabbage and maybe some yellow rice.

Those look delicious. I'm always a fan of anything with spinach and cheese. Wonder if adding some feta would work? I think this might be dinner tomorrow.

I will be using a combination of feta and Parm. I add freshly grated nutmeg to dishes with greens.

Cold (for us) and rainy today. Chicken noodle soup and sandwiches for dinner tonight. Beef stew tomorrow with some homemade sourdough bread and that's as far as I have planned.

It is mild here in MI today but I head possible over and snow coming. I am good to make a pot of potato soup. It’s a basic recipe.

Classic Vegan Potato Soup

I use non dairy milk, but it has to be unsweetened and not flavored.

It’s in the oven!! I hope it’s turns out well. I used potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, onion, garlic, white pepper, kosher salt and rosemary. Then in the liquid I added the rosemary and more white pepper.
